Where to find cheap air fare?

Where do y'all find such bargain air fares sometimes? So far I've just gone through yahoo (I think it's travelocity). Are there other sites, or am I best off just checking some of the airlines directly?

Also try www.hotwire.com and www.expedia.com. I like travelocity the best, but have heard of others getting good rates through these sites. Good luck!

Since you're in Texas, you might try the Southwest website. I don't believe Travelocity, etc will show their rates. We use them all the time and the rates have been great. I don't know how close you are to one of the airports they use, but sometimes it is worth a little extra drive. We have a set of kids living in Dallas who drive up to Tulsa to catch the flight - the rates are that much better! Get on their email list for specials. They send out a batch every Tuesday.

We live in Conroe and fly out of Houston. I checked out the airlines and decided we wanted to fly either delta or continental. Every day about 3 times a day I went to their web sites and put in my flight info. For about 3 weeks the price came back anywhere between 240 and 270. Just last week I put our dates in and the price was 137 rt. I quickly bought the tickets. Just a few hours later the price was back up to 249. We are traveling in June but you can try this for whenever you're going. We went last year in June also and I did the same thing ended up with 130 rt.

Simba I would check out Southwest Airlines. Im in Pearland (Go Oilers!!!) right outside Houston and we got some good deals on our airfare in Sept. $79 each way from Hobby to Orlando. Actually that's pretty close to what we flew for in 97 when we last went.

Thanks for the idea. I'd been checking airline websites on and off, but not as diligently as you suggested. Today I went and pushed in my two sets of travel dates and was able to find airfare from Buffalo to MCO for exactly what I wanted to pay for June 2003! As for the surprise June trip we now have the air booked, and I still have $700 to spend on lodging and still stay within my $1500 budget! This is coming together nicely. I just wish I could find a decent Airfare for April. If I can't I'll just book Southwest as soon as they have the dates released. I figure if I have to pay full price I may as well travel non-stop!

I guess we'll just miss you. We arrive on the 25th and depart on July 1st. Our AP's expire on the 30th otherwise I'd stay through the July 4th holiday. Around here school does not let out until June 25th (I teach and DS has moving up ceremonies from elementary school). It is a total surprise trip for the kids, and what a neat "graduation dinner" for DS. Now I still need to figure out where we will be staying!

Wow, $79 out of Hobby! That's 6 hours north of us, but when you compare it to $300 per person here, and multiply the savings by 4 people, it's worth driving up and leaving our car there for the week if I could get that price! We'll definitely watch Southwest!

I have been looking for Buffalo to MCO for December. I would tell you to keep watching JetBlue as well as Southwest. Both have been putting on sales from week to week and seem to be the cheapest from Buffalo.

southwest seems to have 135$ all in for NON stop flights from buffalo to orlando now....

not all days are available for this rate but if you can be flexible you can find it...
