My family is going to WDW in November for a week and my sister and I are doing one day by ourselves. We will be on our own for dinner, but we can't decide where to go. We've narrowed it down to Olivia's Cafe, Boatwright's Dining Hall, Captain's Grille, Bongos Cuban Cafe, House of Blues, or Portobello.

Thoughts, opinions, experiences and suggestions are greatly appreciated!

I would go for House of Blues since we really enjoy the food and atmosphere. Then you could look around DTD for a while. We didn't care for Bongos and haven't been to Portobello... :)

These are some interesting choices...not sure why you narrowed it down to these but if you're set on one of these, I would choose either Bongo's or House of Blues. Yummy stuff.

I have only been to 1, captains grill, only ok. I wouldn't go back considering all the wonderful disney restaurants in the world. Not bad but nothing special in my opinion...

Not sure why you selected these particular restaurants, or what your individual dining preferences are so its difficult for us to suggest what will work best for you.

Of the ones you list, I'd put Olivia's and Boatwright's lower on the list. They are good (we love Olivia's) but not worth going out of your way for. I'd put Captain's Grille on the bottom of the list. The other three are all good too. I'd suggest HOB or Bongo's if you like their style of food.

You may want to read the dining reviews here when trying to decide. :disrocks:

I'd suggest HOB - we enjoyed the food and atmosphere there. We weren't impressed at all with Bongos.

I know it seems like a strange list but since we only have a 7 day park hopper for and 8 day trip, we needed a restaurant that wasn't in a park and these were the ones that I liked the best.

Thanks for the link to the reviews also, they definitely have helped a lot.

We are just back and the House of Blues was a favorite.
We went for happy hour and got out of there for under $40.00 for 2 ppl. 4 half price appetizers, 3 beers, 2 gin and tonics. Service was fantastic. We left stuffed and will most certainly be back!

I haven't tried all those restaurants but we had an awful meal at Boatwright's and will not return.

I really enjoyed Captin's Grille. I thought it felt more up scale w/ out a high price. The food was very good & the atmosphere was very calm & quiet. I would love to try that Bongo's too!

If you don't mind my asking, what was so bad about Boatwright's? My sister and I finally settled on Boatwright's b/c we both really want to eat there but I've heard extremely mixed reviews so I'm still a little skeptical.
