We are only going to be in DL for 2 days. I want to eat 1 sit down. I cant figure out where. I keep hearing about a pirate restaurant's? Maybe iM hearing things. I need recommendations!!!!

Thanks!!!!!!!

Hmmm I would think that the "Pirate" resturant that you are thinking of is the Blue Bayou. It's in the New Orleans square, and the resturant is situated in the POTC ride. It is my favorite place to eat, as it has such a lovely atmosphere. :thumbsup2

No you cannot see the actual ride. But the boats go by you on their way through the Bayou. There is a bit of theming before you actully get into the Pirate area, more so than at WDW. While you are eating you can hear the crickets chirping and see fire flies hovering over the Bayou. Very nice!

I would highly suggest getting a Priority Seating for this restaurant as soon as you are 60 days out. It is very popular.

Yes you should try the Blue Bayou and when you check in request a water side table. It's dark in the restaraunt as is the ride, but you can see the boats floating by you as they are beginning their ride, if that makes sense. You can make reservations up to 60 days in advance for this place. I really believe everyone should eat here at least once it's a great atmosphere and I always enjoy the food.

Yes Blue Bayou!! You don't have to have a waterside table but they are nice. I prefer waterside or the second row from the water. Anything other than that is too far away from the water. :) You don't see the ride but you see the boats floating by and it's a fun bayou scene. Definitely call for ressies asap though, they do go fast!

I've never been to the Blue Bayou, but my favorite sit down restaurant is Carnation Cafe. It's on Main Street and the food is delicious.

With a 4 & 6 year old, I'd probably do a character meal. I've never been to Goofy at the DLH, but hear good things. We've enjoyed the princess dinner over at DCA each time we've been. I think one of my favorite character meals is actually breakfast with Minnie in DL.

We really enjoy the waterside seating at BB.

Blue Bayou is very nice, but pricey too. For other sit down restaurants, try Naples, Rainforest Cafe, or Jazz Kitchen in DTD

I'd do the Blue Bayou if I were you. Especially if you have done character meals before. This would be way different and the atmosphere is really cool. The children's menu is a pirate hat, that they can actually wear. It's very cute. Then after the meal, you get dubloon coins to take as souvenirs. If you are patient, ask for a waterside table. We were lucky the last time, and asked for one, and they said it might be up to a 1/2 wait. But within 10 minutes we were seated. You can wave at the people floating by going on PotC. It is quite expensive so be prepared. I think on allears.net they have the menu. Good luck and have a great time.:goodvibes

PS- Is this your first time at DL, and are you WDW vets?

I'm picky when it comes to good food & to me the BB didn't cut it for the price....BUT the atmosphere was worth it! We didn't get a water side table bc I didn't know about Disboards 5 yrs ago - LOL - but DD still had fun.

Goofy's Kitchen was fun, again the food was so-so but DD had fun. And it was her 4th b-day so we ordered a cake & Goofy brought it to her! She still remembers that. They get the kids involved w/ some dances & they will sign your tablecloth if you don't have a book!

I'd try & get into both if I were you - it's so neat to do something special while you're there.

Slightly off topic question, sorry :)

I was reading the BB menu yesterday, and they offer as a side dish choice "Blue Bayou Potatoes"...can anyone tell me how these are prepared?

Thanks,
Linda

They are the most delicious potatoes EVER! They're like creamy, cheesy, yumminess! I'm not sure the exact style. They aren't mashed, and they aren't like a baked potato.

We had dinner at the BB in June for our wedding Anniversary. It was really nice. We had a water side table, but the ride was broke down (we knew because we were stuck on it for over an hour!). So we didn't get to see any of the boats going by.

We all had the steak, and it was very good.

They are like scalloped potatoes. They are so wonderful that I had to ask for the recipe. So they are scalloped potatoes made with heavy cream with onions and a little peppers.
