Where to eat the first night ?!?!?!?!

I would like to go someplace exciting and fun for the first night (dinner) !!! Any suggestions?!?!?!

We already have these reservations , O'Hana, 50's Prime Time, Sci-Fi.

We have 3 Teenagers.

How about a dinner show? We never go to a park on our check in day so this year we are doing Hoop Dee Doo Revue Last year we tried SOA and we really enjoyed it. It would depend when you are arriving, where you are staying and whether you plan to visit a park that day.

We are trying Whispering Canyon Cafe for our first night's dinner...this is a first for this restaurant. It gets mixed reviews so I decided to give it a try...sounds so fun to eat at.

I agree with previous post - Spirit of Aloha or Hoop de doo review would be fun and not cost you a theme park admission. I think Planet Hollywood may be fun or if you could get Cali Grill at Wishes time.

My DH and I were just having this conversation. I think Hoop-de-do would be a great choice for our first night...he wants to go to a park right away. Isn't it awesome to have to make these choices?!?!

We're heading to Hoop Dee our 1st night. Never been but sounds fun! We're going to the late show at 9:30pm as I have no idea what flights we'll be able to get plus thats 6:30 our local time so perfect for dinner. If we get in early enough we'll head to Magic Kingdom for a few hours prior. It's only $10 or so to add another day on to our MYW passes for going to a park our 1st day.

Since you are eating at Ohana, the Spirit of Aloha luau is a lot like that; so I recommend doing the Hoop-Dee-Doo like previous posters have mentioned.

I have a teen too! We really love to spend our first evening at the Boardwalk. Beaches and Cream is a fun place to eat and you really can't go wrong with burgers, fries and ice cream, especially with teens! We then like to walk around the Boardwalk and over to play mini golf.

Another first night option we do sometimes is head to DTD. We like WGP Express for dinner (although I am dying to try Paradiso), and then it is just fun to walk around DTD and wrap up the evening with sundaes at Ghiradelli. Sometimes we will take in a movie or go to La Nouba.

I agree with the PP Ohana and luau are a like I go with HDDR instead of the Luau.

I LOVE the idea of doing HDDR the first night, it would be a great way to kick off the vacation. However, beware that you must pay up front for this and there is a 48 hour cancellation policy, so if you don't show up for any reason (like flight delay), you will forfeit your $$. This is the only reason we never do this on our arrival night. (I'm not sure if the insurance on the packages through Disney Travel Company would cover this expense, but it is worth looking into.)

I personally don't think that SoA and 'Ohana are similar at all (except Polynesian in theme), but having said that, my family (which includes 2 teens) likes HDDR better...but that is a matter of taste. If it interests you, go for it, and don't worry too much about the food or entertainment being way too the same.

How about 1900 Park Fare? I personally haven't been, but Cinderella and Prince Charming are there as well as Lady Tremaine and her evil daughters. The characters are supposed to be a real hoot, and I would absolutely love to try it some day. I got outvoted this time, though. Everyone else wants to do Chef Mickey's for Mickey and friends and the napkin dance (which is somewhat of a first night tradition in our family)!

Why?

Love being immersed in the "original" theming of Disney and being around the monorails. Plus you can look over your shoulder and see Space Mtn in the background.

Just makes you feel like ur in the "Middle" of Disney!

Really? The Wave has a view? I always got the impression there were no windows in that place!

For me, going to the Magic Kingdom is the best way to kick off a trip to the World. We usually head straight there as soon as we've dropped our carry-ons in our room. However, we're not a fan of any of the park's restaurants, so we usually elect to have dinner the first night at one of the resorts on the monorail line. Some of our favorites are the Grand Floridian Café, the Kona Café and the California Grill. You can also take a boat over to the Wilderness Lodge or Fort Wilderness and have dinner in one of their restaurants or lounges.

We're doing Crystal Palace the first night, but my kids are much younger than yours, so I'm not sure they'd be into the characters. But I agree that there's no better place to start a trip to Disney than Magic Kingdom!

We are going to spend the day at MK, then monorail over to the Poly for Ohana's. If my timing/math works out Wishes should be starting as we eat our dessert. A magical first night...
