I am seeking advice..once again from all you vets out there. We will be at MK on monday  and are thinking of heading out for lunch on the monorail. where would you stop for lunch? We could go by boat too, I just realized. We'd like to return to MK after lunch w/o having to repark. What would be your first choice? I should say our party is myself (31), dh (34), ds (5), and dsil (31). We have eaten before at Chef Mickeys and Whispering Canyons and did enjoy them both, prob the latter more. Thanks in advance!

Kona Cafe at the Poly is really good and the desserts are wonderful!!! :goodvibes

ITA with Ciera - Kona is wonderful for lunch. We do at least one MK day Kona lunch per trip. The food is great, I like strolling the Poly grounds before lunch. Usually, after lunch, we rent water mice at the Poly marina & have a half hour Regatta around the Lagoon & Bay Lake. It makes for a great MK day!

Another vote for the Kona Cafe. Excellent food, great service :sunny: And desserts like this:

Banana creme brulee'

Kiluea Torte (AKA chocolate lava cake!)

KONA! just ate there last week, a late breakfast - best eggs benedict I've ever had. Anything at KONA looks good. Have fun!

I'm going to have to also say Kona. It's a lovely place to go and relax a bit and have lunch.

My Kona Cafe favorites:

Breakfast: the macadamia-pineapple pancakes!

Lunch: Shredded pork sandwich

Dinner: Beef teriyaki (the shrimp is an extra cost)

Appetizer: sticky wings

Dessert: toss up between the banana creme brulee and the Kiluea torte (pictures above!) :3dglasses

Another for Kona. The Sticky Wings appetizer is large enough (about 10 wings) plus the salad which comes with it to be a hefty lunch, especially if you add one of the desserts.

BTW, some restaurants have "show kitchens", Kona has the dessert prep area as a show kitchen.

Towards the front of the monrail is probably less jerky.. less chance to spill a drink.

Another vote for Kona. I've personally enjoyed the island chicken sandwich.

My DS5 is a train nut, so we booked the Concourse Steakhouse for dinner. The monorail was a great distraction for he and DS1.5. The food was excellent.

thanks so much  kona it is! I checked the menu out on allears and it looks awesome! thanks everybody, that wasn't even on my radar, I'm esp excited about banana creme brulee...I'm hoping I can make it until Monday:)

Just wanted to 'thank' SeaSpray...i'm now sitting at my computer salivating after looking at those pics

ROFL! :rotfl: Sorry! I try to not look at my Disney restaurant food pictures when I'm hungry!! :earboy2:

We loved Kona for lunch also! It was great to eat a late lunch there, relax and walk around the Poly for awhile and then head back to MK recharged and ready to go! I had the club sandwich, which was excellent. My DH had the pulled pork, which he enjoyed. The kids had chicken tenders, so what else is new! ;) This was one of our favorite meals of our trip!

This Kona place must be something with all these positive responses. I am sorry we missed it on our last trip.

We did try 1900 Park Fair at GF and thought the food was pretty good. The restaurant was a little loud and hectic, but we would probably go there again.

I was going to suggest Kona for lunch even before I saw all the other responses! I guess I'll just join in with all the other Kona fans. :thewave:

If you do go to Kona, make sure you save room for dessert. There are very few restaurants where we order dessert, but Kona is an exception - yum!
