We will be celebrating my DS's 3rd b-day while there... where should we eat? I want to go somewhere fun for him where they'll do something special. There are 5 of us DD8, DS5, DS3 and I wanted to order a cake, but just a small one for us to eat there because I don't want to have to lug it around the rest of the night.

Any suggestions of a good place to celebrate for him? He's more of a Star Wars fan and Pixar fan, but he likes Mickey, too. So we were thinking maybe Chef Mickey. What do they do for b-day's?

Thanks for any input!

Hoop Dee Doo Revue is really, really fun and they yell out birthdays and anniversaries. Plus, the entertainment and food is a blast! I don't know if they do birthday cakes...you would have to call and ask.

You can have a cake made special for your party, or, I think, most restaurants have a standard birthday cake they will provide too. Call Disney dining for info.

Other restaurants:
Chef Mickeys
Crystal Palace
Dinner at Liberty Tree Tavern (with Goofy)

They also have a pirate cruise from the GF and Carribean Beach, I think. I wouldn't be for the entire family but its a lot of fun.

We are doing LTT for my DD 4th birthday. We liked LTT last year and my daughter had a blast with the characters. LTT was by far the best character interaction we had on our last trip. I like it better than the buffets where everyone is constantly out of their seats getting more food. I was told that they have a 6 inch non-personalized cake that we can ask for when we check in. You can always order a different cake ahead of time. A 6 inch cake will be fine for our group because like you said, I don't want to carry the leftover cake around all night.

We are having the same issue for our sons 3rd birthday. We are doind Crystal Palace and they will do the small cake for you as well that you can order when you arrive for check in. We wanted Chef Mickeys but couldn't get the ADR. :sad1: Good luck.

Does he like Finding Nemo? You could go to the Living Seas, do the two attractions first, and then eat at Coral Reef Cafe (tell him he gets to go eat with Nemo, did that with my DD3 last year, that way it sort of seems like a character meal to them). I've read that they also do birthday signs from inside the tank, he'd probally get a kick out of that, too (go the extra step, ask them if the sign can say "Happy Birthday _ from Marlin and Nemo" or whomever's his favorite).

Thanks for the suggestions!

We actually did Coral Reef two years ago for my DH's b-day. We got a table with a great view of the tank and a diver came up to the window with a sign that said "Happy Birthday, Dad." The kids thought it was so cool. They also did a personalized menu for him. While it was certainly very neat, we want to do something different this year for my DS.

It's funny, I've heard such different things about LTT... folks who thought it was just average and others who had an incredible time there like you did saying the character interaction is great.

I'm still so on the fence! (Decisions have never been my strong suit.)

Thanks for the input!

If he likes music and singing do the Hoop De Doo

Maybe the castle at dinner if he is not into music. They have some characters, but they aren't in your face all the meal (this is not true of lunch and breakfast)

Crystal Palace has a dance/march around the room with characters once an hour. The kids really enjoy that.

LTT had good character interaction - and not a buffet if you prefer to stay seated.

We did LTT for my sons 4th Birthday .The CM that booked us in made sure there was pixie dust on the table ,a birthday card from the characters and a birthday candle in his dessert. He also got a happy birthday phone call from goofy at the front desk. All the characters made a fuss of him and the waiters came around when they brought dessert and sang Happy Birthday to him.He really enjoyed the whole event !
