So my DD21 and myself are going to Universal over the weekend of Jan 6th. We will be eating lunch in the park but will proably wait to eat dinner outside the parks. (They close at 7pm) We are staying at the Doubletree. Where would you eat and why?

If you're looking to eat at CityWalk, my recommendations would be Margaritaville and NASCAR Cafe...both are fun places.

There are quite a few places on Kirkman Road near where you're staying as well...most within walking distance.

In IOA our favoite is Mythos...yummy food and a chance to sit down away from the chaos for a little while.

If you are having lunch in the parks, eat at Mythos. Great atmosphere and fantastic food.
We love the Latin Quarter in City Walk...different from standard "chain restaurant" type food.
Or...if you want a really special meal, eat at Tchoup Chop at the Royal Pacific. You don't have to be a guest at the resort to eat there.

Margaritaville for lunch! It's just a short walk from either park.

We really loved Finnegan's in Universal. There fish and chips and shepherds pie were awesome!

We love the Po' Boys and Crawfish Nachos at Pat O'Brien's. Delicious!

In Islands of Adventure it just has to be MYTHOS!!!!:yay:

Is Mythos open for lunch and dinner or just dinner? Which park is it in? And how early can you make reservations?

Sorry for all the questions - I'm a Universal newbie, and I'm starting to think I should invest in a book!

Mythos is located in The Lost Continent at IOA and is open mainly for lunch but it depends on what time the parks close as to whether it's open for dinner. You can make reservations 30 days ahead although most times you don't really need to unless you're going during a busy time.

Thanks! So is it reasonable to plan on going there for lunch the day you go to IOA to see WWOHP in the morning? Or maybe my kids are going to want to eat at WWOHP, despite the fact that Mythos has better food, to get the whole HP experience...

Mythos is right by WWOHP. It's not like you have to go to another section of the park.
Your kids will love the interior of the restaurant which looks like a cave with carvings in the walls.

Have you ever tried Bubba Gump's? We love it. Also, the NASCAR cafe' was fun. It was a great place to stop for appetizers and relax and warm up a bit.

The Three Broomsticks was pretty good for counter service but you might have to wait a while to get a table. We waited for about 30 minutes.

Mythos is so nice and close and arguably the best Universal restaurant. You could tell the kids that you're going to eat at the place where water falls out the guy's mouth. ;) It's a waterfall on the side.

Another fan of Mythos here. I also like Emeril's and Bubba Gump's. Emeril's has a lunch special that's really good. You get to choose an appetizer, entree, and dessert for like $20.00.
