DH and I are going to down to Gatlinburg in Oct for some Christmas shopping. Usually we stay in a cabin in the mountains and grill out a lot but this time we are staying in a suite right downtown. What are some good restaurant suggestions?

Thanks!

In Gatlinburg:

1. The Peddler - wonderful hand cut aged steaks

2. The Park Grill

3. Howards

4. Calhouns

In Pigeon Forge

1. The Chop House

2. Boston Shrimp Bucket

3. Great American Steak buffet

You can look at menus by going to http://gatlinburg.com - then click on dining.

My favorites are:

1. The Park Grill
2. The Peddler
(They are both owned by the same people)

Great food at both places.

Calhoun's is ok. The Park Grill looks very nice, but we haven't eaten there. We love the Texas Roadhouse, even though it's a chain, and tend to eat there! I would just recommend that you do NOT try the Open Hearth! It has gone downhill fast and I even have 2 $25 gift certificates to use there, and don't want to go!

Someone else mentioned the Great American Buffet in Pigeon Forge, but I don't like it. The buffet items were very basic, and canned! Of course, everyone has different tastes. We were there Sunday and ate at Ruby Tuesday's. I know, another chain... ;)

If you go across the mountain into Cherokee, I can give you some more recommendations! Especially a few GREAT country inns with fabulous meals!!

Enjoy your trip!

Bennet's bar b q.......I even bought 2 jars of Sauce to take home!

In Sieverville is the Apple Valley restaurants-the store has the BEST Apple-Cinnamon "butter".

Our favorites are:
1. No Way Jose's (Good Mexican food)
2. The Best Italian Cafe (AWESOME garlic rolls)
3. Lineberger's Seafood
4. Blaines (for casual, inexpensive food)

In Pigeon Forge, we love the Apple Barn (lots of goodies made with apples)and The Old Mill (each meal comes with corn chowder, corn fritters, and a dessert). We don't care for places like the Great American Steak Buffett...canned, overcooked food, Bleck.

In Pigeon Forge: The Old Mill is great if you love southern comfort cooking. The butter is YUMMY its a honey butter homemade. Corky's is a great BBQ place too. If you are looking for a dinner show, nothing can beat the Dixie Stampede dinner show. The food is great and the show is fun.
In Gatlinburg: There is a brewery at light 5 , right across from Applebees that we love. It has excellent bacon cheeseburgers and good ale. We also like the mexican resteraunt next the aquarium (Jose's Cantina I think)

It's spelled Sevierville, jaybee.;)

Sorry...my grandmother lives near there and I get really ticked off when people don't spell it right. :)

Ruby Tuesdays' is EXCELLENT for a chain place. I go there at least once every time we are there.

Is the Old Mill the restaurant that is right outside the Great Smokey Mountain Park entrance? If so, I remember they have a wonderful (country) family style breakfast that will fill you up til dinner!

I think you are thinking of The Burning Bush's Bountiful Breakfast!::yes:: The Burning Bush is right beside the GSMNP entrance and it is YUMMY!!!!

THere is a mexican place downtown by the Aquarium that is very good (or was 2 years ago when we were there). Sorry, can't remember the name.
Have a great time. We sure enjoyed it.

I have eaten at this Mexican place also and can't remember the name. It was a cute catchy name just can't recall. It is just to the right of the entrance of the drive to the Aquarium.

Another good rest. is mid-town "Brass Lantern". We have eaten there several times. Not pricey, just really good food.
