Where to eat at AK

We are planning a commando park day - AK most of the day then straight to MK for Spectro, fireworks and nite rides.

We would like to do a late lunch/early dinner before the parade at AK so...where/what should we eat??? (usually we don't eat here)

we have eaten tusker house several times and found it to be very good. we did not care for flame tree BBQ. it was okay, but not as good as we had expected.

We ate at the Rain Forest Cafe.
We have a Rain Forest Safari Club card.
Did not need a PS and move to the front of the
line.

My DS & DD like the animal movements and noises.
I love the coconut shrimp.

It's not cheap. But the portions are large.
It's clean and a seat inside an A/C building.
Bathrooms are also clean and well stocked.

We also have eaten at Tusker House the past two times we went to AK. I thought the food was really good and for a good price. I would highly recommend this place if you are looking for a good counter service meal at a reasonable cost.

Be careful on planning to eat dinner at Tusker's. They have a disconcerting habit of closing early, lately. (Around 3:00 pm). However, if you want to eat before the parade, that might work for you.

I had a dreadful experience a the AK Rainforest Cafe so cannot recommend eating there for any meal.

There is also the Pizzafari with pizzas, sandwiches, and some pastas and salads available. Depends upon what you want to have for that meal!

There is a place in Dino Land too. It's McDonald's by any other name!

I would get the meal deal! It is great... you get an entree, a large drink with the entree, a bottled drink (soda or water), and icecream or popcorn, all for 11.99... when we added up everything for our family of 3 (one child under 10), we saved about $18 this way!).

Our favorite places to eat are Tusker House and Flametree BBQ. I have to give the edge, though to Tusker House, especially since it is air conditioned. It does stop serving around 3:30 pm, though, so you might want to get there to eat around 2:30 or 3...check the times when you enter the park. The food is DELICIOUS and filling. I had the Balsalmic Chicken Salad, and DH had the Chicken Platter, which came with green beans and mashed potatoes. Both were DELICIOUS! DD had the mac and cheese, which was tasty, and helped DH with his green beans and chicken (that platter is huge, and normally would cost you about $9 by itself.

You can get your vouchers for the meal deal at any of the counterservice restaurants within AK. It is definitely the way to go. We will never leave AK to eat again!

I tend to grab lunch at Pizzafari. There is lots of seating and it's nicely airconditioned. It's counter service and they have a chicken caesar salad as well as pizza.

Can't remember if they have other food.

I love Flame Tree barbeque for the ribs, they are very good. I must add though, I have never eaten anything at FTB but the ribs so I do not know how the other dishes taste, they look pretty good but I have never tried them. I like the ribs too much to try anything else!

Thanks everyone for the replies!! (and the info about the meal deal - any place where we can save money in WDW is good).

We like Rainforest but we have one about 20 minutes from home so we don't feel the NEED to go to the one at WDW.


If anyone else would like to weigh in on their favorites - I would love to hear!
