Hi I'm having an Intimate Wedding on Jan. 10th 2005 and I am unsure of where to eat after our ceremony.
Plus does anyone know if they do anything special for intimate wedding receptions??
I have 16 guest including my fiance and I.

i'm also looking for somewhere to have my "reception". also do they mind if you're still in wedding attire?

I thought there was a thread on this already, but I can't find it. There are a number of things you can do for an intimate reception. You can have it at a Disney resort restaurant. Some popular choices seem to be Citricos, California Grille, Narcoosee's, Victoria & Alberts...pretty much anything in the Monorail loop. Some restaurants allow you to rent out private rooms, but it all depends on how much you want to spend. I'm getting married at Sunset Pointe, so I've only looked in that area. I'm sure some of the other brides will have ideas for you, too. Check out All Ears Net for restaurant info. You can have your EM arrange for your cake to be delivered to the restaurant of your choice, if you would like.

You CAN wear your wedding dress to a resort restaurant, but you CAN'T wear it in the parks, with very few exceptions. I'm planning an Illuminations Dessert Party for my reception, and was told that I CAN wear my dress (as I'm paying for an event guide), but some Intimate brides have been told that they CANNOT. Are you confused yet? :D

We recently returned from our intimate wedding and honeymoon. We, the wedding party of 11, dined at California Grill after the wedding. It was perfect, as Wishes began 15 minutes after we were seated. We had our cake sent to CG for dessert, which they gladly cut up and served and returned the left-overs with the cake topper in two seperate boxes to the table. We had an option of renting out a private room, but minimum was $2000, but we knew we would spend nowhere near that with our total bill.
When Jason and I arrived, everyone, and I mean EVERYONE in CG applauded us through our entire walk to the table. Waiters, hosts, chefs, diners, everyone! It was great, but totally unexpected. We had sent our families ahead of us in the limos, so they might have had something to do with it!

I had my intimate wedding at the Poly in May, and we are from St. Louis, so we don't get to eat crab legs (or at least good ones!) very often, so we all went to Fulton's Crab House in downtown Disney. Make sure to make a reservation well in advance, and also ask to sit on the main level because it is much nicer. My family still raves about it, and my Mom travels the country eating and she wants to go back to DW just to eat there! It was fun and nice, but not overly stuffy.

just some dinner ideas for a reception on your own

there's lots of new info and choices to view online at the new disney weddings site or at yourfairytale.com that can give you some ideas & descriptions of what to expect, want & plan. best of luck in your plans!

if you, your future mrs. and guests want to have a dinner after your ceremony and cake reception you can book a priority seating at any of the wdw restaurants like the yacht club galley at the yacht club, the california grill on top of the contemporary, or jiko's at animal kingdom lodge are all great bets, you could also do a character buffet dinner for about $20/a person.

there's also some great restaurants in the parks (although you cant wear your bridal gear in the parks unless you host a dessert party at epcot or mgm which is possible too through epcot catering or your em) in the parks there's great restaurants like the royal table in cinderella castle at magic kingdom, any of the restaurants at epcot's world showcase like alfredo's in italy or san angel in the mexican ruins.

you could also book a private dinner on the grand 1 yacht at the grand floridian for a dinner & cruise near magic kingdom including the fireworks show at 7 (i think the limits 12 people on the grand 1 though)

best of luck with all your plans!

We had ours at the Yachtsman Steakhouse. It was wonderful, everyone raved about the food. We had the full menu and it was done special with our names and no prices so people could have whatever they wanted.

Hi there...let me begin by saying CONGRATS!!!! I had my intimate wedding at the Yacht Club Gazebo Jan 17th 2004... so yup I'm coming up on a year!!! God I wish I could do it all over again! You're going to have such a wonderful time and then suffer from total withdrawl when you get back home!!!! I know I did. Anyways, like you I was like "HHHMMMM what would be a great dinner and fun at the same time??? Our family had never seen the Polynesian Dinner Show so I decided to book dinner for 11 of us (includes the hubby and I). Contact your wedding coordinator. Mine was Holly! She was awesome. The coordinators will help you get the dinner reservations set up or at least point you in the right direction. The dinner was prepaid and came out to a little over 550.00 but it included h'ordurves <--- not sure I spelled this right but you know what I mean... dinner, wine, soda, dessert and of course an awesome hour show!!!!!! The whole family loved it. And of course during the show they ask who's celebrating a b-day, anniv. etc. When they asked who was celebrating a wedding or honeymoon ... it happened that we were the only ones in that huge crowd! So they asked us to come out to middle of the dance floor and they played us a hawaiian love song !!! Very memorable. be sure to take the video camera! I stayed at the Wilderness Resort so I used my limo service to get to and from the ceremony and to get to the ypolynesian... after dinner though we used Disney transportation back to the wilderness resort... however you may want to pay for additional limo service to take you on back... otherwise... grab a bus and head on to downtown disney and continue the party!!!!!

As far as wedding attire...We all changed before going to dinner.. they might ask you to do the same... My hubby and I wore Hawaiian attire... luckily the weather was magnificent and wasn't to chilly.

Again... Congrats... and Happy New Year...Isn't it great when Disney takes care of everything... sooooooo stress free!!!At least it was for me!

We did the exact same thing,,*smiles*. We were married in Oct. 2004 at the Yacht Club Gazebo and then we treated everyone to the dinner show at the Poly. There were 12 of us all together,,we all had a blast. We also changed into hawaiian wear before dinner. I changed into a strapless somewhat dressy hawaiian dress just to keep the night special,,and I actually wore my tiara over to the dinner show because we weren't able to get if off before we had to leave (I swear that thing was locked onto my head with a whole package of pins!),,,but it made the night even more fun!

Here's a pic of me and my hubby at the Poly on our wedding night!

Where ever you end up going Im sure the night will be magical!

Congratulations! :flower1:

Happy New Year.. and Congrats on the recent wedding...

I noticed one post indicated that you can't where your bridal gown in the parks unless you are having a reception? Is this for real? How do they stop you? I had decided that I would love to do an afternoon ceremony and then stroll through epcot or magic kingdom...no go?

Codie... no go dude.. the only strolling you can do with the dress thru MK and Epcot is if you pay for the photo package... and it starts at about 700.00... it sucks doesn't it!!!! afternoon weddings are great..especially with the sunset..

How do they stop you? By not letting you into the park. They are very serious about this btw.

Sorry it's been so long for this reply,,:( We just moved into a new house and Im currently planning our "at home" reception which has turned into a much larger event than originally planned,,so my free time has been limited lately,,:(

We are hoping we can go back to WDW this year for our 1st anniversary! I would love to do that,,we had such a great time at the wedding. Lucky you getting a discount,,not mention living in Florida and not having to deal with the snow! *laughs* We've had so much snow this year one of our cars is still buried,,literally,,Im hoping it will just thaw out one of these days! I want to go back to Disney RIGHT NOW! :earseek:
