Are there any rental car places near the DCL port at Port Canaveral? Trying to map it to drop off rental and closest ones seem to be 45 -50 mins away. There must be at least 1 car rental place nearby, right? Just for another set of eyes, we are flying into Jacksonville, going to WDW for a few days, then driving to Port Canaveral. If anybody has a better idea let me know. Thx!

Enterprise and Hertz are closest (<2 miles from the port). Dollar, Budget, and Avis a little further down the A1A. Most of them have shuttles to/from the port. But you have to watch when they're opened.

But for a better idea I would say Happy Limo and stay the night before at PC.

Ok, good to know on closer rental locations. And thx for the suggestion, but we already have reservations at WDW and having a rental makes it cheaper.

When you arrive at the port I’d suggest you drop off familly and bags then go to rental return. There are a lot of peopl returning cars and waiting for the shuttle busses. It’s a lot faster to get one person on a bus without bags than a whole family. We have done this many times. The other spouse or family member can either wait in line or check everyone in. When you get there you go to supervisor desk to get your photo.

Yes!! that was my plan, that's what I usually do.

payless didn't survive ... no longer in the greater port area . . .

not sure what you are looking at but the rental offices mentioned (other than payless) are within 5 miles. Did you perchance enter ORLANDO as the search place???? Sadly sometimes the port is listed as Orlando ..... which is 45 minutes or more away from the port. The port is in the town of Cape Canaveral, close to Cocoa Beach . . .

Yes, I found out that even though I was typing in Port Canaveral, it was auto filling with Orlando Intl Airport. Maybe because we are picking up car from Jacksonville Intl Airport.

I was just about to ask this question. So my husband can drop off the kids and I at the ship to check-in? And then he'll go return the car and get a shuttle back to us?

We are first-time cruisers. Our plan is to arrive 2 days early and go to Kennedy Space Center first before the cruise.

Yes, that will work. When we sail out of PC, we do that, usually with an Alamo rental. Shuttle service has always been very efficient as a solo passenger without bags. A couple of times, I was able to get an immediate shuttle that had room for one, but not room to accommodate another family group.
