Where to drop off for least walking

Hi,

Going to US this weekend with my MIL in tow and she can't walk as well as she used to, but refuses to use a wheelchair or electric cart. So I want to drop everyone off before I park the car so they can avoid as much walking as possible. Is there any place to do a car drop off to avoid walking through CityWalk?

Would it be possible to drop them off at one of the hotels and they could take a boat over, or is that not allowed? If so, where does the boat dock (ie. how much walking would she really avoid?)

Thanks

I'm sure someone has a picture handy.

But in general, you wouldn't be saving much walking if you dropped them off at a hotel for the boat. The boat docks are in the center of Citywalk, so you would save maybe a single bridge and the short walk before the "split" to US or IOA. That being said, you would likely have just as much of a walk (if not more) from the hotel drop off to the boat launch.

If you are worried about the walk, I'd possibly recommend either using the main park dropoff (escalator to the center "hub" in the parking garage trek), or parking valet. (cuts maybe 1/2-2/3rd of the journey between the hub and citywalk.

Universal does however have moving sidewalks on most of those bridges, so actual walking wouldn't be needed. You can just stand to he side and let the walkway move you down. If you factor in actual WALK distance, you really wouldn't be saving much if any from the hotel launch to the park entrance vs. the garage walk.

A co-worker had the best idea. Drop them off at the valet parking so they can take the escalator up to the main walkway. She dropped her daughter and friend there a few weeks ago with no issues. There is no closer place to be dropped off than valet.

In addition I would just caution that you are going to have to walk a long way no matter, so if it were me I would strongly urge them to use some type of wheel chair if they have problems in these areas. I have no issues with respect to walking myself, but I am totally worn out usually after visiting the parks, just because even when you get into a park, you will walk forever. I walk more at the parks than anywhere else or anything else I do in life. It is all just so spread out, there is just no way around a lot of walking. I normally bandage up my feet when I go to the parks to help keep down the blisters forming and it helps a lot. But the parks are the only place I have to walk so much I get blisters, just to give you an idea. Its not unusual to walk several miles or more in a visit.

I just found this in a search, but it was pretty much the same question I was going to ask, except I need to know how easy it is to get from the guest drop-off point back into the main parking garage.
I would like to drop off my parents as near as I can, then take the car and park it, and meet them at the park enterance. Similarly, on the way home, I can let them go to the drop off point while I go and collect the car and meet them there.
Is it easy enough to get to and from the drop off point and main parking garage both ways ?

It's VERY easy. The escalator/stairs from the guest drop off goes up the central hub were the walkways for the 2 parking decks merge before the bag check and final bridge into Citywalk.

Cut and paste this latitude/longitude into google maps (or your gps) for the best drop off for the parks:

28.471352,-81.467052

A quick 5 minute walk to the entrance of IOA
