where to buy

Ah okay I see.

It's such a personal decision, I've only been looking at resale for a few weeks and when I first posted about my decision, some people also thought that it wasn't worthwhile for me to buy in. I suppose they could still be right. But for us, I see us going to WDW or AUL every 2 years or so, and because we are a family of 5 we need a 1BR at AUL and might prefer one in Florida anyway. AUL is super expensive on a cash rate and so for me, the math works out that if we go about 3 times, we'll have made up the initial purchase price; then I can either rent out points or use at WDW or even sell if we are done with it by then. But because of that, the math only works if I buy in pretty cheap, so it was either SSR or AUL. If I sell later for a "loss", which I would anticipate, that's okay by me since I would have made up the costs anyway.

I should also add that we really like DL too especially for the proximity, but I don't think we'll ever be able to stay at VGC using our points.
Well if you want to stay at DLT, you will need direct points so based on what you are saying, VGF is probably your best bet now. Low dues, long expiration, more likely that you will be able to sell for a good price later on. Or wait for Poly2 maybe. But resale you will only get VGC at DL and that is nightmare resort to book at 7 months. I think what you are saying is that you will only go to WDW every 3-4 years. But you want to go on a cruise (in which case you will need to rent your points bc the exchange is terrible). You can get into AUL during off season at 7 months with pretty good availability. I say direct at VGF!

For SAP, the obvious choice right now is SSR. I would consider BLT/CCV as backup choice. And Poly, if you think it will be in the same association, which I consider unlikely.

I own a lot of SSR, and I've never been inside.

That said, if you plan to book cruises or whatever, this might not be the product for you. DVC only makes sense against Disney hotel rooms. Everything else you are better paying cash or renting. It is very easy to rent Aulani points.

AUL sub is a good option for SAP as well like you already mentioned which is why I sucked it up and got one despite it being a different UY.
Thanks for posting about this! I saw this advice a few weeks ago, and we just went to ROFR on a AUL sub for our first contract. Using it at Aulani every 3-5 years and then to use as SAP at WDW regularly. Not an ideal use year but we we figure it out. 🤪
