Where to buy resales etc

Hi,

We are thinking of adding points.

We have the August use year at VWL- I would prefer to keep all new points in an August use year too. and we would prefer to add at VWL or anywhere at WDW.

Does anyone know of any other resale sites in addition to the one on this website?

I can tell you we just got word on Friday that we closed on a resale from dvcbyresale and we dealt with Shontell. She was very helpful in answering all our questions, since we were new to DVC. Once we passed the ROFR, it got turned over to the closing company. The whole process was quick, about five weeks from my first phone call until closing. This week I will call to bank some points, etc. I was told Disney should have us in the computer by around Tuesday. I have not dealt with any of the other resale companies, but I am sure others can tell you positive stories about their experiences with them. I can tell you my dealings with dvcbyresale and Shontell have been very positive. Good Luck with your choice.

Now my next questions!

Our first purchases were from DVC directly (150 pts @$72, then a year later 50 points @$74). All points are August use years.

1- How important is it for add-on points to be in the same use year?

we are thinking of no more than 100 additional points-

2- Is it too confusing to manage/ keep two use years straight?

(this time I am sure that will be enough!)

As long as you're able/willing to keep the different Use Years staright, there is no reason NOT to have different UY.

I have 4 different Use Years at 2 resorts and haven't had any problem yet tracking the points. I have set up an "account" for each contract and resort in MS Money (any banking program will work) and that method does a great job of tracking the points- I just make deposits and "write" checks for each transaction. The confirmation and banking numbers are noted right on the "check".

Caskbill is working on an addition to his DVC Planner to serve a similar function (How's that coming, Bill?? )

We have an August Use Year at VWL (see above)

Is there an optimal second use year that complements an August Use year well?

I have given a lot of thought to the "best use year," but in general I'm not sure that one is significiantly better than another.

We like to go first week of Sept (so an Aug/Sep use year is great).

I'm thinking that if we can't get an other Aug use year we should go for one that is "six months before/later" ie Feb use year...

Any more thoughts?

The same use year simplifies things somewhat, espcially if the points are at the same resort. There are some advantages to having multiple use years though and these include the idea that if you visit multiple times of the year, you can chose which contract works best for a specific visit.
