A while ago I saw them and can't find htem now that I'm looking... anyway it looks like a wetsuit to provide sun protection for toddlers, but is lightweight so it's not to keep them warm. I used it last year so I didn't have to keep reapplying sunscreen. They had long sleeves and long pant legs but very light weight.

I looked at Walmart and Target so far with no luck!

I think that Keifer.com also has this type of suit. I always wondered whether they really worked.

Thanks for the info. I am going to try to find one with long sleeves and longish pants in a wetsuit (one piece) type.

Any other companies?

And yes, they work well. My daughter doens't like getting sunscreen put on so this was very helpful.

Disney direct has 1 for boys and 1 for girls they also have the rash gaurd tops for both.

One Step Ahead catalog has them.

They work......my son has worn one since he was an infant and never got burned. Where he wasnt covered up, I put on sunscreen and he still got tan on those spots. Since youre not supposed to put sunscreen on under 6 mos old, theres not much you can do. Its hard to find one for under 12 mos, but I did see one in one of the kids catalogs that just came. Theyre not cheap, and I always bought them big so he could grow into them. Now that hes 3 he wears a rash guard. Wish they had them when I was little!

You can try solareclipse.com. I've ordered from them for a number of years and have been pleased with the products for my red-headed son!

sunproof.com and sunsafe.com

I have ordered from both and been very happy. My kids wear these always.

I saw them in Land's End's catalog.

Questions:
Why would these be better than plain sunscreen? You still need sunscreen for the child's face.

Is it a chemical in the cloth, or is it just a matter of covering the skin?

If it's a chemical, does it wash out? I'm asking because I've always thought it was so ridiculous that we're told to put our children in fire-retardant pajamas, yet the fire-retardant washes out the first time they're washed (unless you wash only in baby detergent such as Ivory).

They are better than sunscreen since their is no need to reapply. It is a specific type and weave of fabric, not a chemical, so it does not wear off. Yes, you still need to sunscreen your child's face, that is much quicker than getting their whole body.
