Where to buy food?

Hello! I am new here and hope I can get some help as I start planning our first family trip to DW. I am deciding between Fort Wilderness or a hotel with a kitchen, but I was wondering if these resorts had stores to purchase milk, eggs, lunchmeat, loaves of bread, etc.

Fort Wilderness has a small store with a few food supplies. Of course you pay WDW prices.

I can't say for sure but I'd think the prices at the Disney shops might be on the higher end. We used WeGoShop.com to have groceries delivered which worked out very well. I even went so far as to look at the stores's online sale ads to put together our order.

Ft Wilderness does have a store with limited groceries and like everything at WDW a premium price tag.

If you will have a rental car then a trip to the local publix or other grocery store is your best bet. There are also a few grocery delivery services that for a fee will shop for you and deliver the goods to you at the resort.

I used wegoshop in October and they were excellent, I e-mailed a list with sizes and brands and they did the rest.

You could also ship some of the non-perishables to yourself c/o the resort and pick up the rest at arrival.

Fort Wilderness has a couple stores and there is a Goodings near downtown disney. I have also found a super Walmart about 15 min. away. If you have a car it would be cheaper to shop there. We have been to the Goodings and found it to be a bit pricey. The walmart address is 3250 Vineland Rd., Kissimmee, FL 34746. I got directions from fort wilderness on mapquest. We are going in August and plan to shop at the walmart this time.

I am not sure how you are getting from the airport to WDW but consider using one of the town car service. Most of them offer a 1/2 hr long stop at a grocery store on the way there. It is great.
