Where to buy double wide sneakers?

I admit, I have some WIDE feet. I do get a catalog (Woman Within---it's for bigger people) that does sell shoes/boots/sneakers in larger, wider sizes and I could buy them there, but I'd like to try them on at a store to make sure they fit properly before buying them, instead of ordering them, trying them on at home and then having to send them back if they don't fit, know what I mean?

I have tried our local Famous Footwear store but they just have the regular "wide" sneakers. I mean, I can get away with buying a pair there (If I can't find something in my size, I usually just go up one size and deal with it) The widest part of my foot (where I have problems with tightness) is towards the top of my foot (where the balls of your feet are) I take a size 8 wide, but sometimes have to get a size 9 or 10 wide depending on the style.

So I'm wondering, do you know of any stores that sell like a size 8WW? (double wide....my goodness, I sound like a trailer now LOL)

I live in the Cleveland area and there are a number of mom and pop shoe store that specialize in shoes for special needs as well as regular folks.

I buy from Zappos.com and Shoebuy.com pretty much exclusively. I haven't been disappointed and they have free shipping and free returns. I know which brands work best for me usually and tend to stick with them.

I believe New Balance carries a lot of wides so if there is a store near you give them a call. Dillards and Macy's often carry one or two pairs in wide but you have to get there early. Good luck.

I know you want to try them on, but I've had a lot of luck with Zappos and their double wides (sounds like a trailer LOL). I've only ever had to send one or two pairs back over the years. It's free return shipping and if you order during the week, they almost always have them to you overnight -- AND, they'll give you the credit right away, even before they've received the shoes. That way you can have another pair on its way to you if you want. Zappos is the absolute best in customer service.

Also, do you have a Reebok outlet anywhere nearby? I'd tried on sneakers for days, trying to find a wide enough width and finally found a Reebok outlet. They didn't have any actual WW sizes, but a couple of their regular wides were definitely wide enough for me. I believe I could have even fit into their regular size in those particular shoes. You just have to go through and try them on one by one to see which ones run bigger like that.

Definitely try a New Balance store if you have one near you, they regularly have extra wide shoes. The New Balance site can help you figure out which style will work for you, based on width, arch, toe box height, look for info on the shoe last(the mold of the shoe).

ZAPPOS is your best friend for shoes. 365 day return policy and free shipping CAN'T be beat at all. Think of it as your own personal shoe store. the first time I ordered from them I caved and ordered 2 different pairs of shoes because I could not decide. Needed them for a wedding. so I got both and tried them on several times over a period of a few days for an hour at a time. Didn't wear either outside until I knew which pair I was keeping, and then first chance sent the other pair back, and my money was credited with absolutely NO PROBLEM at all.

I kept reading about how you should really try the shoes on for 30 minutes or more and really how are you going to do that in a store:confused: Most I ever kept them on in a store was maybe 10 minutes.

I have wide feet myself and about my only option at this point is Zappos because so many shoe stores do not carry wide shoes. I would rather suck it up and order 2-3 pair of shoes and try them on in my house than go back to a shoe store. The last time I must have hit every shoe store in a radius of 20 miles and could find NOTHING that looked nice and fit comfortably, except for a pair of sneaks. I am done with the brick and mortar stores. Absolutely done:headache:

Let me repeat...

ZAPPOS! Free shipping both ways allows you to wear them around the house a bit before making a decision. They have the widest variety of sneakers, casual shoes, boots, and dress shoes I have ever seen for those of us w/ wide feet. If you can't find it at Zappos, I'll bet you can't find it!

As for the shipping...don't choose overnight when you order, just choose regular free shipping and you will be upgraded to the overnight. I've never not been upgraded.

And the 365 day return shipping means that if you have the shoes for 365 days and decide you don't want them, yes, you can send them back for free and your account will be credited.

I have a very wide foot. WW in shoes are still too narrow for me ( I have had this issue since I was little). I wear Easy Spirit sneakers. They are comfy and their WW work for me. As others have said New Balance also carries WW.

Zappos carries both.

I have a very wide toe box and I gave up on Women's shoes-- I buy Men's sneakers. They tend to be wider to begin with and you can find them in stock in most stores in double wide and often even up to 4x wide. My most comfortable pair of New Balance are a Men's EEEE . Once I gave up on even trying Women's sneakers things got so much easier. Sometimes I have to be pretty assertive when I am at a store and they can't understand that I want to try on MEN'S shoes but I have ended up with what I need.

I have fallen arches, which means I have always had duck feet:rotfl: and when I have to walk a lot, as in visit WDW, I always go with Easy Spirit for a dreamy fit:cloud9:

When you visit their website you can enter your size and width and you'll get a list of everything they have in your own size.

I have very wide feet at the same area of the foot as the OP. I cannot wear the New Balance WW; they are too tight for me. I get the extra wide Reeboks or Sketchers from either zappos or shoebuy. I get all of my shoes from these websites.
