We bought some Disney Dollars a few weeks ago at our local disney store and asked the CM there if they were still going to be selling these after they became Children's Place employee's. She knew they were still going to be selling park passes, but wasn't sure about DD's. Has anyone tried buying these recently (since the transfer to Childrens Place has been completed)? I was just wondering. You can buy gift cards online, but that's not quite the same thing. Since the Disney Store is now owned by Children's Place and the online store is still Disney owned, you can only use the Disneydirect card online (not at the parks or anywhere else) and the disney store card at the stores, so it's not quite as versatile. Anyway, here's a link to the gift cards if anyone's interested: click here Unfortunately I couldn't find any information at all online about disney dollars.
I was told that you can fax in an order for them and not have to pay shipping? Not sure how accurate that is, and I'm not sure how secure it is to send a credit card number through a fax.
If anybody has any information on this, I would love to know. Also, if for whatever reason, we have unspent Disney Dollars, can we trade them in for real monies?

I receive CC info daily via faxes and have not had a problem with the security yet. It's better than email. I've never done it tho, we just get ours at our Disney Store.
As for trading them in, yes you can. I don't know where to do it in WDW but in DL you can take your unused DD to City Hall and trade them for cash.
Can I ask a silly question? What is the difference between Disney Dollars and a Disney Gift Card? Are the dollars actually paper currency used in Disney? Or is it also a card? Sorry, I've heard lots about this, but never really understood.
Thanks!

Disney Dollars are actual paper money. They have one of tha characters in the middle just like there would be a president. We have some from a few years ago with the classic characters, Mickey, Donald and I think Goofy. This year I think they have Cinderella and I'm not sure who else on the dollars. They are really super cute and in my opinion, give my kid a bit of a better sense of the money since they actually have a dollar amount on them. So having some 3, $5 DD is much better than having a plastic card that you have to keep track of your balance.
Oooh, which brings up the question, when spending DD, do you get regular change back or do you get more DD (If the amount is enough that is)
