My parents retired a few years ago and were doing the RV thing. They finally bought a home and moved in over thanksgiving. When I was a baby they moved to the country and planted a tree the first year. We watched it grow over the years and had many photos taken by that tree.

I'd love to send them one but i'm only finding trees for $60 and up. I was hoping to be under $50 with the shipping included.

I would call a couple local nurseries and see if they sell saplings, then you can mail them a gift card

Do you have an idea of what type of tree? Also what part of the country? Some species do better than others in certain areas.

I bought some flowering trees from them a few years go. They are all doing well. One broke during shipping. I sent them a picture, they replaced it quickly and we kept the broken one too. Oddly enough the broken one is now much bigger than the others.

A good tree to plant will cost more than you want to pay. I planted a redbud a year ago. It was a big one but it cost about $350.
