Where to buy a cheap Vera Braley-ish backpack?

Hi all! My dd7 sees all of the big girls at school with Vera Bradley backpacks, and she put a "cloth backpack" on her Christmas list this year. She couldn't care less about the brand, but I know that is the style she means. Any suggestions on where I could buy a cheap one?

I've seen the Vera style in the Hallmark store. Ruelala has the Vera backpacks in some discontinued prints right now for $50, but that still seems high.

I see people carrying Vera-like bags all the time, I just never seem to see the store where they buy them. I'm sure the budget-board people won't let you down!

If you're in the North East and have a Christmas Tree Shop near you, check there - I feel like I always see them there.

The ones at the Hallmark store are by Stephanie Dawn. She is Vera Bradleys granddaughter. I have one of her bags and love it. I think I paid $40 for mine.

I've seen Vera Bradley like bags at CVS! I am not sure if they have backpacks, though. I think they might be totes.

Sometimes you can find Vera Bradley at Marshall's and TJ Maxx. Both stores also sell the look alikes.

Ebay and Bealls.com Bealls sells non vera bradley cloth backpacks. I have seen Donna Sharp cloth purses at our Cracker Barrel.

I've noticed these types of quilted bags at Hobby Lobby - much less expensive than VB if you don't mind it not being the real thing.

I have seen Vera Bradley bags at consignment stores, but you need to know the patterns and retail price. A child's consignments had a Vera Bradley lunch tote for $25 firm price. I could not believe it, it wasn't in great shape(it was faded). I was really surprised because I knew the retail prices for new ones, even on VB clearance sales.

If there is a Tuesday Morning store in your area you might want to check there. The last time I was in I found some Marie Osmond bags there. (They look very similar to the Vera Bradley brand.) I don't remember seeing the backpack style though. But it's another place you can check. Good luck!

I have a Stephanie Dawn backpack which is almost exactly like the smaller backpack sold by Vera Bradley. I paid $24 for mine at a discount-type store. There were a few others IIRC. One was a blue -green pattern, and the other a maroon color. They are very cute, and the quality is almost exactly like the VB bag---the pockets are arranged a little differently, and maybe a zipper encloses on the back instead of a flap. I love the one I found, especially for the price!
