First, let me clarify...I am NOT a vegetarian, nor am I vegan. But I like my veggies...:lovestruc

Second, this is NOT a review. Nor is it a plan.

In honor of our FREE QSDP next week:thumbsup2, I'm researching where the veggies are! Since this seems to be a common enough theme, I thought others might be interested in my research, so I'm posting here for all to benefit.

What I am including here are entrees that can be found a counter service dining locations that accept the DDP. Included entrees will be veggie heavy, like greens based salads or grilled vegetable sandwiches. This is not intended to be a place to find vegetarian food, just veggie heavy food. Where possible, I will include photos that I find.

If anyone has any relevant commentary regarding the quality of these specific menu items, please share. I hope this can be a helpful resource for all of us.

The following index will become links as I add my research:

Magic Kingdom
EPCOT
Hollywood Studios
Animal Kingdom
Water Parks
Downtown Disney

ABC Commissary

Asian Salad: There is no description of this salad available that I can find. Disney calls it "the popular vegetarian Asian salad". One reviewer I found even ventured to call it vegan and described it as having edamame and ginger slices.

Backlot Express

Southwest Salad with Chicken: Over mixed greens, crisp corn tortilla, black bean relish, avocado and cilantro vinaigrette

Fairfax Fare

Fairfax Salad: chopped romaine, refried pinto beans, pulled pork, roasted corn and sweet peppers, Monterey Jack and corn tortillas

Starring Rolls Cafe

Sushi: available at 11:30 AM, selections change daily, could be California Roll, Vegetable Roll, Spicy Shrimp Roll, and/or Full Moon Combo. (Okay, maybe not veggie heavy, but seriously? sushi is being served here now? Good for WW points people...I think)

Studio Catering Company

Grilled Vegetable Sandwich: Grilled zucchini, roasted mushrooms, roasted red pepper, vine ripe tomato, watercress, provolone, smoked tomato pesto, black olive ciabatta bread

Greek Salad: Romaine, tomato, cucumber, Kalamata olives, red onion, feta cheese, Greek dressing

Toy Story Pizza Planet

Pizza Planet Chicken Salad: chopped Romaine, grilled chicken breast, cantaloupe, cucumber, red onion, tomato, green peas, fresh basil, and balsamic vinaigrette

Resorts Near Hollywood Studios
Since it would be totally feasible to leave Hollywood Studios and take the boat to the nearby Epcot resorts, I've included these resorts in a potential plan for a Hollywood Studios day:

Beach Club Marketplace (Beach Club Resort)

Grilled Vegetable Wrap

Rip Tide Salad: This salad is made to order. You choose what ingredients you want on the salad. The salad is created and dressed right in front of you. These photos are mine.

Boardwalk Bakery (Boardwalk Inn)

Classic Chicken Caesar Salad: With crisp hearts of romaine served with marinated and grilled chicken breast, herb croutons and shredded parmesan cheese.

My two favorite vegetable-friendly locations to dine are Columbia Harbor House @ the MK and Sunshine Seasons @ Epcot. Great idea you have for a thread!!!

:thumbsup2

Columbia Harbour House

Garden Harvest Salad: Mixed greens with chicken, garden veggies, cheese and sunflower seeds

BLT Salad: Mixed greens with crispy chicken, bacon, egg and tomato (I hesitated to include this because it is more heavy on the protein, HOWEVER, I include it because it is a salad and you can always leave off or share some of the protein. And it seems fairly popular from the available photos)

Wow, coming from a veggie lover, this is a thread from heaven! Although you have been so thorough I don't know if there is anything left for the rest of us to add.

That is amazing, and complete with pictures too. :thumbsup2 Thank you for putting it together.

This is a brilliant idea, thank you so much for starting it!! :lovestruc

We're planning our next trip right now, I can't wait to plan around this! :cutie:

This is fantastic! We are "mostly" vegetarians but will on occasion eat some chicken or turkey. In the past the veggie selections at WDW have been blah! How many garden salads and french fries can you eat? This thread makes me hungry for the food and to go back to WDW!!! Thanks for all your hard work in putting this together.:thumbsup2

:goodvibes

Thanks everyone!

I'd love to have pictures of everything...but for CS, lots of people just talk about what they eat and whether they liked it. I understand because the presentation is pretty lacking at most CS.

So if anyone has pictures or ever sees pictures, let me know and I'll include them!:thumbsup2

I don't know anything about the dining plans, but my favorite veggie-rich dish at WDW is the stir-fried noodle bowl at Captain Cooks at the Polynesian. It can be ordered with chicken as well for those who eat meat. I love this dish so much I crave it when we're not there! Kona used to have the same dish on the menu, though I don't know if they still do, and it's a sit down place, so doesn't fit your thread anyway.

In the MK you can get a baked potato at the snack place in Liberty Square. I don't know the name of this place but it's right on the middle of Liberty Square. It also sells fruit and veggie snacks.

I'm pretty sure anywhere that serves burgers also has a veggie burger if you ask. I love veggie burgers, i know ive had them at Plaza, again, not CS.....The "Pirate" mexican food place across from POC makes any dish veggie by making it with black beans, and they have a topping bar but its only got iceberg lettuce and onions, cheese, etc to top it with no good veggies. :cool2:

Wow those pictures bring back alot of memories and ate alot of them last year. I would order chicken salads (either fried or grilled chicken) every day at lunch and found them all to be great and healthy and best of all fulfilling. Loved the one from CHH and Pinnochios mediterrian chicken salad. Also at the buffets i would try to eat healthy and you know they have salad there also. At Ohana they do serve broccoli so you can get some veggies there.

My two favorite vegetable-friendly locations to dine are Columbia Harbor House @ the MK and Sunshine Seasons @ Epcot. Great idea you have for a thread!!!

For Epcot resorts refer to the Hollywood Studios link, which I thought was more in need of a resort boost than Epcot...

Fantastic thread. I love it. :)

One comment I'd like to make: Veggie burgers and their toppings have been discussed and, for the most part, I agree things are fine. I love the veggie burgers at Restaurantasaurus and Cosmic Rays. BUT, at the All Stars the only toppings offered are cheese or bacon.

No lettuce, tomatoes, onions, or pickles. Just cheese or bacon. I have complained to Disney to no avail.

I agree that the Vegetable Platter at the Tangierine Cafe is wonderful! I recommend it to all - even if you aren't vegetarian (but DH says their meat was good too) :cool1:
Making my mouth water & I absolutely can't wait to back - Morocco is a definate stop for me in EPCOT...

I agree! I've tried to find a good one, but even Whole Foods falafel isn't that great! :confused3
Oh well - I guess I'll just have to get my fill at WDW :goodvibes
