We have one park day. We get off DCL wonder on Sunday, Nov 6th, we should be to WDW by 9:30 am, and our flight leaves at 8:30 am on Monday, Nov 7th.

Our kids (DS 12, DD10) have been to WDW 7 times, but were taking our nephew (12) who's never been.

We decided that since he's never been if we can only do one park it would be MK. It might be the only time DN gets to WDW, my sister (his mom) passed away 2 yrs ago and It's not the type of vacation my BIL and the 2 boys (12/14) would normally take. Should we spend the money and stay at a monorail resort? We love the POLY, would maybe like to try CR-tower. Or should we stay at POR (we need a room to sleep 5) What do you all think?

We have a friend that works in media in Orlando and she may be able to get us 5 one day passes with hopping option :cool1: . That would save us $300 and give us hopping privleges, so I'd have $300 more for hotel :cheer2:

We would highly recommend the Wilderness Lodge, it is a boat trip to the Magic Kingdom, and you get the amenities of a deluxe resort and a lower cost than the Contemporary or the Poly. We are actually splitting a stay at the Contemporary and WL in July.

I think WL is a great choice - I think the kids would love the boat ride to MK and don't forget about eating at Whispering canyons. Kids luv this restaurant.

I'm sorry to hear about your sister - My sister passed 12 yrs ago and we have been lucky enough to be able to take my 2 nephews (now 13 16) with us twice.

I would recommend Poly if you are going to MK. We just came back from our WDW trip with 3 9yos and 2 12 yos. All wanted to go to MGM and MK (RnRC, ToT, SM, SpM, TM). Epcot would be cool because of Soarin, TT and MS - then you can have a good meal in WS. If you plan on going to Epcot, then I would recommend Y&B Club, so you are in walking distance from all. If you have a park hopper, go to MGM and ride the two big rides there and then take the boat over to Epcot to ride Soarin, TT and MS. It would be a tiring day but you will get a lot out of it.

Sorry to complicate things but 12 yos have their opinions, too.

I would highly recommend the Contemporary. It's a short 10 minute walk to MK and you can take the monorail on the way back. Contemporary is the first stop. Time is of the essence with such a short stay, so make the most of it. It will be easy to go back and forth between the resort and MK if your room is not ready when you check in. You could also have a fun dinner at Chef-Mickey's. A tower room with a view of MK would be awesome too. You can watch the castle change colors and see Wishes. Your nephew will also LOVE the CR arcade. If the CR tower is too expensive the North Wing is very nice also.

For your group I would vote for the Contemporary as well. The transportation to the MK and back is excellent here (the quickest) and the boys should love the monorail. There is the electric light parade at night, lots of fun stores in the lobby (of course with the monorail cruising right through it...) and I think the monorail would be more exciting than the boat ride, overall.

Wilderness Lodge gets my vote. The kids will be in awe of it the moment they walk in, there's a Pin Trading station right in the lobby, Whispering Canyon would be a great place for lunch or dinner, and since you are only staying for one night you probably won't be in the hotel a whole heck of a lot anyway to justify spending the extra bucks for a monorail resort.

Plus, the boat ride is just as nice as the monorail in my opinion~
