Where should we Move????

Looking to my DIS friends for some advice. We are looking to move our of our current area of Niagara Falls, NY.
My husband is a CPA, and would like to live NEAR a big city. But not in. I am looking for a SAFE family oriented small town. Our family lives in Upstate NY..(syracuse area) and we don't want to be too far a way..but a day or 1/2 day drive wouldn't be too bad.
We like the outdoors, mountains, lakes, rivers..ect. Would like the Ocean, but don't know as if we would like the Hurricanes and such that come along with it.
I would like to stay where I still see the seasons change. But we don't get to much snow.

ANd hubby's requirement is that the taxes aren't too high.

Any suggestions??
I know its a tall order to fill.
But I have looked and looked, and I think personal opinions would be best on this subject.

Colorado? It's very scenic, and you could live in the burbs of Denver.

A Metro Detroit suburb. My cousin lives in Buffalo & it just takes about 5 to 6 hours to get there from a North East suburb of Detroit. PM me if you want some city names. In comparison to NY, you can buy a home for a song out here!
