Where would you recommend we take our foster sons, ages 4 & 6. We don't want anything scary or too hyper. Also, what is the closest nice hotel w/ suites near your recommendation? We don't want to spend all our energy (in our 50's) and time traveling back and forth. Thank you!

My DS 7, loves Seaworld. We don't do the coasters, he's a big chicken. I believe there's a Hilton nearby that has suites (not the Hilton Garden Inn but another whose name escapes me at the moment). Go to the SW website and there's a list of preferred hotels. Good luck and have a good time.

My dd (6) loved the jumping fountain at Epcot and the talking fountain at IOA. We spent a good 1/2 - 1 hour at each. She got wet! and it was a nice break to sit and watch her play. At Epcot also at the world showcase is the kidcot stations. The kids are given a mask and each country will stamp it and give a cut out of something that represents their country. Also at Epcot she participated in the JR Chef where she got to make chocolate chip cookies.

I second all of the shows and you must see Fantasmic!

If they like characters, Chef Mickey's is great -- they are open for breakfast and supper (buffets at both) and breakfast ends around 11:30 so you can really treat it like a lunch (that's what we do). It is in the Contemporary Hotel, and so is right on the monorail, convenient to the Magic Kingdom and Epcot. You will need priority seating.
They will probably love the Animal Kingdom -- the only things that are scary are Dinosaur and It's Tough to Be a Bug (this is only mildly scary). There are great animal trails, the Lion King Show is fabulous, and the Safari ride is, too! There is also a large playground (the Boneyard) where they can just run around and have fun, as well as "dig" for dinosaur bones.
Of course, the Magic Kingdom is loaded with rides that kids that age will love!!!

Disnee Dad Says...........................................I shall read between the lines, and offer up a couple suggestions.

1. Dumb ole me feels you don't want WDW advice, as you are so close it.

2. Where shall we go is an open ended question, so I assume you have a few bucks.

Choice #1 Oahu.
This is your vacation too. Swimming in the ocean for hours, playing in the sand. Swimming at the hotel. The Honolulu zoo.
The kids will be happy. For you, The Arizona, Battleship Missouri, Poly Cultural Center, a circle island tour. Tons of nice places to stay.

Choice #2 Colonial Williamsburg.
Only if you have a interest in history.
And Jamestown too.
Enough to keep them interested for a short time, nice and slow, no rides.
Chance to stay at a nice place and have a couple nice meals.
Can be done in three days, includeing travel.

Disneefamily Dad, funny ole you! A wonderful sense of humor is a great way to start the day.

1. Actually, money is not free-flowing though, we did save enough to stay at a nice, not resort class, suite. Since we are taking our young foster children that have many behavoir problems, we need our space to unwind and, for only one night at WDW, are willing to spend $100-120 on a suite w/ 'space.' So, if anyone has knowledge of a place like that near WDW, your suggestions would be very helpful.

2. I'm from Hawaii and one day, when our yet unborn grandchildren are older, plan on retiring there. You named the best tourist spots on Oahu. But, don't forget the North Shore, Dole pineapple fields and a drive around the island, too.

3. Colonial Williamsburg is a place we do want to go to one day. Thanks for the write-up.

4. So, it's back to # 1. By the way, we are enjoying and appreciating all your responses!

If you are looking for a nice suite hotel off-site, I can recommend one.

Last year, we didn't mainly non-Disney things. We stayed at the Country Inn's & Suites in Calypso Cay (just type in Orlando). It's just a couple of miles from Downtown Disney & about 10 minutes from the TTC.

We REALLY enjoyed the hotel. We had 2 rooms (doors that fully closed between). The livingroom has a sofa that pulls out to a bed. 2 TV's, small fridge, microwave, & coffeemaker. There are also gas grills around the pool. So if you don't want to eat out, you can easily grill a few hot dogs, etc. Also included is breakfast. Kindof a "heavy continental" as there are no hot items. They have the waffels you can put through the toster, oatmeal bags(add hot water), lots of pasteries, bagels, fruit, yogurt, juices, etc. PLEANTY, even for us who normally only eat b/fast and dinner.

The hotel has 2 pools. One is a zero entry. It was great for my then 3.5 yr dd who didn't swim. There is also a water slide, playground, and mini golf.

We paid arount $50-60 per night for Sept. Be sure to get the Calypso Cay one. There is another in Orlando that is not as nice (much smaller pool area.)

www.hotelkingdom.com has some great prices on suite type rooms....we are staying in a 2bdrm at Wyndham Palms Resort for a few days in Dec....it has had great reviews try hotel kingdom....

This does sound like a good idea, Wydym Palm Resort villas but, we do not want to sit through a 90 min. timeshare presentation either the day before or after we leave. If you do not mind doing that, this really is a deal!!

Thank you!

Disnee Dad Says.......................................I'm back!

We stayed at Calypso Cay on our last trip. It is pretty nice, I don't think you need to do the presentation to stay there, it will just cost more, but may still be a good deal. We did the presentation, but we were on a nine day trip and could afford the time.

Warning though. They have the god awfullest shuttle that I have ever seen. I don't remember exactly but it was go to MK at 8:00 or 10:00 only, and come back at 6:00 only. One trip or two trips to EPCOT, one was like at 1:00 pm! Thank god we had the car.

PS. Paradice Cove Luau, Diamond Head, and Pali Lookout, to add to the list!!! 27 days to Wacky Wacky for a cruise!:smooth:
