We have been 2x so far, both trips pre covid. We will have 4 boys traveling with us (2 families) ages 6,7,9,12. The last 2 trips we had the dining plan and focused a lot on character meals for the younger kids so we could avoid waiting in lines to meet them. This time, since they can't really meet with the characters at the places that ARE open and there's no dining plan, it doesn't seem worth the money. So I'm looking for suggestions for places that everyone would enjoy that are different from what we normally choose. We will visit all 4 parks and are staying at Rivera, Trip is the end of March. What are your favorite places that are open right now? Bonus if they have regular kid food bc my will be 7 yr old is NOT an adventurous eater lol. Also we arrive on his birthday so any suggestions for a great birthday meal?

If you're staying at Riviera, definitely try to do a dinner at Topolino's Terrace. That'd be a great birthday meal.

Beaches and Cream is American food and amazing ice cream.
ABC Commissary at Hollywood Studios
Flame Tree BBQ at Animal Kingdom
Via Napoli at Epcot
Casey’s Corner at Magic Kingdom
Looking at the menus definitely helps with decision making. You can also bring food into the park. We pack lunch/snacks for our picky eater. They don’t seem to mind at Table service restaurants that he eats what we brought in.

We have two boys (grown up now). Some of our favorites:
Sci Fi Dine In (theming, good burgers, shakes)
50s Prime Time (theming, great fried chicken, PB&J shake)
Yak & Yeti (love sharing chinese)
Boathouse (waterfront)
Via Napoli (pizza)
San Angel Inn (love the atmosphere, chips n salsa, sharing entrees)
Raglan Road (Irish dancing)
Sanaa (bread service)
Boma (AKL, variety)
Not sure which are open now.

Are you looking for just table service options? or a mix of TS and QS options?

If you are use to the dinning plan... you might want to spend some time looking at the price points ... With the dinning plan you can order whatever you want... when you are paying out of pocket, things tend to look alot different...

As well looking at appetizer menus to create a meal to share, or meals that can be shared easily between kids, or however you want to mix it up...

As always if you are sharing at a table service, remember that the server is still waiting on the whole party, and should be tipped accordingly as if everyone ordered...

Agreed - pricing can be a bit of a shocker when used to the Dining Plan.

I have read good things about the quick service at Riviera. Do your boys like dinosaurs? If yes, I would suggest T-Rex at Disney Springs. You can use your Landry's card there, too.
