We are staying at POP, check out March 5th. Our flight home leaves MCO at 2. We have Magical Express, but since we are flying Southwest we have to get our own luggage. I have an ADR at Ohanas for 9:30am breakfast, thought we could go out with a bang! DH says it's too rushed, guess we have to be at ME for 11 am. Any other thoughts, should we just have a relaxing morning at POP and chill??

I'd recommend Boma at AKL. AKL is right near POP so there wouldn't be much travel time to the resort. Boma has a wide variety of options for all types of eaters. If you have time before or after brekkie you can take a walk out to the Savannah area and have a look at the animals. I think travelling to the Poly might be pushing it.

Have fun!

We find that we have our "Special" last night at either Crystal or Chef Mickey and then we don't have the pressure of rushing on our last morning. In our experience the time goes by very quickly that last morning and the added stress isn't worth it. We love watching the fireworks on our last night and having one last character dinner before we say goodbye until next year. We generally leave about the same time as your flight and that's what works best for us.

Make sure you are on time, even a little early, for your ME pickup. You will most likely have your luggage in storage. The drivers are not obligated to wait for you to retrieve your luggage if you are late for your pickup and the bus is there.

No way would I schedule a 9:30 breakfast at the Polynesian if I had a pickup at Pop Century at 11. If breakfast took an hour, you'd only have a half hour to get back to the resort. Since you don't have a car, you would either take a taxi or ride to the MK on the monorail, walk all the way across the MK plaza to the bus stops, and wait for the Pop bus (which happens to be the furthest away from the MK). Although I'd bet breakfast would take more than an hour.

In order to return to POP from AKL (someone recommended Boma) you would have to take a cab, or a bus from AK to a theme park or DTD, then switch to the Pop bus. You probably wouldn't make it from there, either.

The rule of thumb regarding Disney transportation is to allow at least 45 minutes transportation time for any bus journey, at least an hour if you are traveling by bus from one resort to another resort.

If you do not have your own car, you will have to use transportation to get to a park, then transportation again to get to another resort restaurant. Then the reverse afterwards in order to get to your resort in time to catch ME. Is it worth the effort and the time?

You will make it, have a great trip.

I totally disagree with this statement! Even if they took a taxi to and from the Polynesian, they would still have to rely on being seated on time, and also be served quick enough to make it out for their return to Pop....not to mention retrieving their luggage from Luggage Assistance.

All of that takes time, and I wouldn't cut it that close. I canceled the afternoon tea at the GF for the last day of my October trip because I felt there was way too little time to get back to Beach Club to make the Magical Express bus back to the airport. (United changed flights on me, and the original flight time went back 1 hour.)

I wouldn't take chances missing the Magical Express bus. Our bus ended up taking a detour to Pop Century because their scheduled bus never showed up, and they were freaking out. It was a good thing they schedule ME pickups 3 hours ahead just in case that type of scerario plays out.

Keeping that ADR wouldn't be worth the stress of missing the bus back to the airport.

As I'm getting ready to make our ADRs for our August trip, DH saw that I had LTT listed as our last day meal (lunch - then back to OKW for pickup to airport).

He made a face, and when I asked him why, he said that the last day is kinda rushed and sad and he never enjoys our ADRs on that day, so he'd rathe do LTT another day!!!! Who knew!

So I agree with the PP who suggested a special meal the night before, and then chill out on your last morning.

I think it all depends on whether you have your own car or are relying on Disney transportation.

I think the OP would be using Disney transportation, since they're using ME to get to the airport.
The only way to make it back to the resort in time would be to take a taxi, and even then, it's cutting it way too close. The ME bus is scheduled to leave at 11 am. You should be there at least 15-20 minutes before then. The ME bus does NOT wait! So that means be back at the resort around 10:30. I don't think it's reasonable to think you can make it through an 'Ohana breakfast (even if you are seated on time...no guarantees there), call for a cab, and get to the ME bus in an hour.

Try for an earlier ADR, and it might work. Maybe 8am.

Thanks everybody! I called an cancelled it, just seemed too much... guess my head was stuck in the clouds, lol. We do have a Fantasmic dinner package the night before. For some reason, I was thinking we had to be at ME for 2 hours before, not 3.
