We probably only have 3-4 years of all kids coming with us at once. Hubby and I really love the location of GFV and I think that is where we will want to stay long term but we have not tried BCV.
You've pretty much answered your own question. You are talking about decades of
DVC ownership and really only a small portion of that will necessarily involve all your children. So I would recommend that you buy where you and your husband feel most comfortable while balancing that with location, cost, etc.
Older resorts like VWL and BWV expire in 2042 so you are talking about a substantial difference in ownership years compared to VGF or the new Poly villas. So your age may come into play...for us, 2042 is more than long enough to own since we are close to retirement age. Once you decide how long you want to own, then choose the resort you like best that fits that criteria.
VWL would be my next choice but the two bedroom really won't work for us. Plus I have heard Disney really skimped out on the refurb.
I couldn't let this one pass. I'd have to disagree completely with that statement. I don't particularly love the new decor of VWL as much as I did the old one, but that's not indicative of "skimping out". In many ways, the new furnishings are probably better than the old ones (floor, television, etc) but to me a little less heavily themed.
As stated before, start with figuring out how long you want to own DVC. Then pick the resort that you like best. Don't forget that owning at a resort doesn't mean you can't stay elsewhere. We've stayed at every WDW DVC resort in our 12 years of ownership. Good luck!
