I am surprising my husband with a cruise as a Christmas gift. Since we leave out of Port Canaveral, I thought a couple of nights at Disney World would just make the trip perfect. However, when I called the Swan/Dolphin for the teacher's rate, I found that it is sold-out for the first night, and only available the second night.

I went ahead and booked the one night, but now need a place for our first night. I wasn't planning to rent a car, but am thinking I might have to now. I don't want to spend a fortune.

I would so appreciate some advice from all you experts - you always seem to come up with the exact perfect answer!! Thanks in advance!

Did you check to see if they had rooms at the Swan/Dolphin for the first night at a different rate, like AAA? I just can't see changing resorts for two single night stays.

I'd look elsewhere on property for a two-night room or check out some of the Downtown Disney hotels (they run a lot of specials),

I try looking at the Beach Club, Yacht Club or Boardwalk since they're all within walking distance of the Swan and Dolphin. Have fun!

Also -- try calling back. You never know when something's going to open up.

Definitely keep checking they may have a cancellation or may decide to open more discount rates up. You also might want to check mousesavers and see if you fall in a discount catagory at another hotel.

I vote AKL! We loved it and you could get a good view of the animals.
