Where Pixie-Dusted Birthday Dreams Come True! A July Trip Report! PTR Link! Pg. 116

Great updates! I love the safari and I can't wait to hear about Taste of Africa!!!!!!!!

Wow!! You got some great safari pictures!!!

I really have to visit that park!! :)

So glad you all found it funny too. When stuff like that happens you just have to share or else you'll never remember when you go to write your memoir.

Happy (belated) Birthday to Connor! Looked like a fab weekend! That fortune telling clip freaked me out - he was so into it!
I loved the detailed photos you got at AK. I've never been so I pay lots of attention to people's pics from there and you got several new angles and things I hadn't seen. :thumbsup2 I love baby animals. I'm glad the elephant made a long appearance for you.

At first when you said you should have paid attention to the sign I thought you meant the "Keep inside the ride vehicle at all times" one. :rotfl: I immediately thought, "Oh no, what happened?!?!?"

But, whew!

I love your commentary, "Animal that is not a giraffe." :lmao:

I'm glad you got an animal encounter, not with your choice of animal, but at least with something!!

Thanks! The Taste of Africa was so much fun!

Yes, you do really need to visit Animal Kingdom! It's my favorite park! :lovestruc

So true!!!

The last thing we need is a rhino-napping! :lmao:

I know, right?

I felt so stealth writing that. :rotfl:

You are an excellent covert agent! LOL!

Happy (belated) Birthday to Connor! Looked like a fab weekend!

Thanks! It is always fun celebrating birthdays!

That fortune telling clip freaked me out - he was so into it!

:lmao: Connor does get into his roles.

Thanks! Animal Kingdom has great photo opportunities!

At first when you said you should have paid attention to the sign I thought you meant the "Keep inside the ride vehicle at all times" one. :rotfl: I immediately thought, "Oh no, what happened?!?!?"

You're right -- I could see easily thinking that!

But, whew!

I love your commentary, "Animal that is not a giraffe." :lmao:

You can see I was a bit single-minded on the safari.

I'm glad you got an animal encounter, not with your choice of animal, but at least with something!!

Yes, seeing the baby elephant and the rhino was very neat!

Just checking in to say HI! :wave2: Looking forward to your next update!

Welcome!!!! So glad to have you along!

Hi, Mary Ellen! Getting ready to write the next update right now -- instead of going to the grocery store which is what I should be doing. ;)

WOOT WOOT!! I have been waiting all morning for an update Ms. Jackie!!

July 20, 2010: Part Six

So, after our safari did we head to the Taste of Africa?

Nope. We decided to venture onto the Pangani Walking Trail since we were right there.

So glad we don’t have termites that make homes like this in Georgia!

A new look for my kitchen? LOL!

240.jpg

Is no place safe???

241.jpg

Connor was very taken with these skulls.

242.jpg

243.jpg

I want one of these Harambe Recycling stickers!

244.jpg

I love the little research center here.

245.jpg

I love desks!

246.jpg

We looked around in here and as always, Connor was fascinated by the naked molerats. He chatted up a CM who was standing there about how all the molerats group together. There were two who had wandered off into another section of the den, and Connor asked why they had done that. I looked closer and realized they had wandered off for some “quiet time.” Time to move on! Nothing like watching animals to get a bit more of an education!

Even though it was getting into the evening, it was still unbearably hot. I told the kids to demonstrate just how hot it was!

We stopped and saw some fish.

Connor and I never see a story we can resist. This one was about how Hippo lost all his fur.

Continued in the Next Post...

We lucked out when we came to the meerkats. They were out and very active, so we had to indulge in a photo shoot.

252.jpg

253.jpg

That’s right! Love the camera!

254.jpg

Be pensive!

255.jpg

256.jpg

Work it! Work it!

257.jpg

258.jpg

Be a guard! Be a guard!

263.jpg

After watching the meerkats for quite awhile, we wandered into the gorilla areas.

Can you see them?

264.jpg

Nope. We couldn’t either. They were all hiding or in for the night.

Was it finally time for the Taste of Africa? Our stomachs were saying that it was indeed time to try some African cuisine.

NOW that was an amazing update!!!!!!

First of all...yes leave it to animals to give you more education than you bargained for LOL!! I love how into the animals Connor seems to get...must be a future scientist in the making!!!!

Okay Meerkat photoshoot...HILARIOUS!!! You had me laughing so hard it brought tears to my eyes!! Loved how he just worked the camera for you!! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Finally...we're getting to the food! Can't wait to hear what you had and if you enjoyed it!!!

Hurrah! I love a Saturday morning update. The grocery store is way overrated anyway.

I can see how hot it is in the kids' flushed cheeks. Glad you made the best of it!

Laughing at the animals sneaking off for "quiet time." I wonder if Disney trains the CMs with some standard explanations when that occurs. And weren't the bats just having quiet time too? Yikes...something was in the air apparently! :upsidedow

The meerkat was totally working it for the camera!

I can't wait to hear about Taste of Africa!!

I snort laughed at your Meerkat photo shoot. :rotfl2::lmao::rotfl:

Those poses of how hot it was are so very familiar to me!
