Where Pixie-Dusted Birthday Dreams Come True! A July Trip Report! PTR Link! Pg. 116

Love the updates! I swear it's a conspiracy that everytime I go on my 2 week safari, I see practically no animals. So glad that you got to see your giraffes!

I can't blame Charles for not wanting to deal with the heat. We have always gone in the cooler months, I don't know if I could deal with that kind of heat very well either.

Those giraffes certainly aren't as plentiful as they are on the savannah at akl. I loved your pictures all the same. I'm glad you guys headed back in to ride the safari. That is usually how I find the lion. This trip - nothing - the lion was completely gone!

Wow - Big crowds there.

Was the heat as bad as last June? Just wondering because that was still the most brutal heat of all times IMHO.

Captain -- your delivery mission was successful. Clone wars and galactic thrills arrived at the undisclosed location at 16:00. Secret codes and other info well received, the troops are excited to try their hand at the action. Image evidence will be provided ;)

:lmao:

Wow! That was so fast! I only mailed it Saturday morning! Glad it was well received. Hopefully, the new "recruits" will have an easy assimilation into the new terrain. ;)

What a cute couple of updates!

Thanks!

:lmao: to the picture of Chelsea at the bus stop (don't we all feel that way from time to time?? ;) ) and the picture of Connor doing his "cool dude" pose in front of the bar with the beer bottles. Too cute!!

I know I feel like Chelsea from time to time, but I delete those pictures. LOL!

Those crowds are a fright! :scared1: I hope they were on their way out!!

They must have been because it was majorly thinned out by the time we left the safari.

How sweet is that baby elephant. That was worth the safari all by itself. But glad you got to see your friends the giraffes too.

It was just precious.

Those lions do sleep a lot, don't they? Do you think they're bored? I guess we're not that exciting.

They can't get to us, either, which probably eliminates any thrill for them. LOL!

Another amazing update!! What a great safari!!! I'm so glad that you found your giraffes!! It wouldn't have been horrible to not see a single giraffe!!

I was a little worried there for awhile that they were all hiding.

As far as encounters go, I'm glad the Rhino decided to just look at you...might have definitely been a different ending to the story if he hadn't!!! LOL :rotfl:

That rhino flat out scared me.

Baby elephant is so cute!!!!! Awwww...so glad you were able to get some pictures of the little guy!!

He was very precious!

I love your safari photos!
The giraffes are my fav too. They're just so beautiful.

Thanks! Yes, the giraffes are definitely my favorites.

Glad you got to see the baby elephant. I love the safari for the very reason that you really never know what you are going to see. I had a couple of safaris that have even surprised the drivers. :goodvibes

Same here! I do love the unexpectedness of it!

Oh I would be worried if I missed those Giraffe's too! Very cute. I loved the baby elephant, so so cute!!! There are so many animals on the safari! Hard to keep track of them all. Fun update, I am glad you made it back after the two weeks safe and sound! ;)

That baby elephant is just adorable! Have you read about the new backstage tour on the safari they are about to start? I really want to do that.

Nice safari... sorry you didn't get to see more of your favorite giraffes but you definitely made up for it with the other animals! :thumbsup2

Yes, seeing that baby elephant made everything all better. :goodvibes

Cool Safari pictures! You're so lucky to have seen baby elephant!
I'll never forget the time we went on and giraffes walked RIGHT IN FRONT of our vehicle!! We had to stop and wait for about 10 minutes!! It was so cool. It was one of the first times we'd been, so we thought it was typical. Never happened again.

I have a feeling that our giraffe encounter from last summer will never happen again, either.

After last year, I'm not sure what it would take for you to have another giraffe encounter to measure up to that!
I did like the picture you took of the beauty peeking out in the trees!

I don't think anything will ever measure up to last year, but I did like seeing them hiding out in the trees.

We saw the baby elephant too, it was such a cutie!

Absolutely adorable!

Hello! I've been following your TR all along, but I'm not sure if I ever came out of lurkdom to say hi! :wave2: I've loved reading about your beautiful family and all the adventures at home and at WDW.

After reading your last update, I just had to post a picture I had from a few years back that made me think of you. I'm sure I have tons of great giraffe encounter pictures, but this was one I took that I always remember. I didn't do anything to alter the color of the sky, but it turned out an amazing shade of blue in the picture.

Thanks for sharing your adventures with us!

Welcome!!! Thanks for de-lurking and sharing that fabulous picture!!! I love it!!! :goodvibes

Great safari pics!! Sorry there were not to many giraffes!!

Some were better than none. I would have been absolutely crestfallen if they had all been hiding.

You got some great safari pics! I love giraffes too. And of course elephants. the baby elephant is just a cutie! I love the one you got of him and his mom facing the water.

Thanks! I wish I had thought to zoom in and get some closer shots.

I love the Safari too !!My pix never turn out well though!!!

You should have seen all the pictures I didn't use in this update!

How about a spring trip to D.C.
(you know you want to see the cherry blossoms)
with a stop in Nashville on the way ;)

and
then

a summer Disney trip? :cool2:

You always have the best ideas, MeMom! ::yes:: I would love to see those cherry tree blossoms.

Great safari pictures. I like seeing the hungry, hungry hippos up close, for some reason. They don't really do much, but I think it's cool to see such a large animal that we don't see on a normal basis. Love the baby elephant pictures, too. I have a good baby elephant picture from about five years ago, and I wonder if he/she is one of those big elephants now or if he/she went somewhere else or what.

I could watch animals all day long, I think. I would like to know what happens to the babies when they grow up, too.

I never see a giraffe any more that I don't think of you.

I do so love those giraffes! :goodvibes

Loving all the pictures of Harambe! The detail in AK amazes me more and more every time I am there. It's so beautiful and it's nice to take some time to just relax over there and take it all in :thumbsup2

I think Animal Kingdom is one of the only parks we do actually slow down a little in -- it almost demands it. :goodvibes

I remember last year's giraffe encounter! It was so wonderful and even though you didn't have quite the same luck with the giraffes this year, that baby elephant helped to make up for it! So adorable! :goodvibes

Yes, seeing the baby elephant cheered me up immensely!

But wait, you never finished the story...did you catch the poachers?

Always! :thumbsup2

My two year old just woke up, walked up to my coffee cup, drank a sip, shook his head and said "you poor thing" I can't stop laughing. Sorry to digress...

:lmao::rotfl::rotfl2:

love all the pictures from the last two updates....and Naomi-Ruth liked the pictures of the "deer" (girafes)...he she calls squirels "moose"

Look mom there is a moose in the tree :rotfl:

the crowd shot...looked like our 11 am arrival last March :crowded:

Okay, that is absolutely adorable that Naomi-Ruth calls squirrels, deer!

:scared1: those crowds!!!!
Great safari pictures and happy you got to see your beloved giraffes :goodvibes
Did you see there is a new tour at AK? Wild Africa Trek....hiking in the safari. :thumbsup2

Thanks! Yes, I am all about doing the Wild Africa Trek. I am curious as to how much it will cost.

DC is a fun city...and the museums are a must :goodvibes My friend that is going with me to Disney next month lives in DC...She has a condo with a rooftop pool within sight of the Monument. It is fun but then you need a Disney trip in the summer...or fall ;)

Tracy

If we do DC in the summer, we will do Disney at Christmas. :thumbsup2

Wasn't that hysterical!?!?

...lovin' it!! :)

Thank you!

Love the updates! I swear it's a conspiracy that everytime I go on my 2 week safari, I see practically no animals. So glad that you got to see your giraffes!

:lmao: Just imagine how disappointed we would be if we were on a real safari and didn't see any animals.

Great update!! Love the safari pics:thumbsup2 The baby elephant is so cute!!

Thank you! That baby elephant is just precious!

I can't blame Charles for not wanting to deal with the heat. We have always gone in the cooler months, I don't know if I could deal with that kind of heat very well either.

It was brutal and AK is always the worst. I didn't begrudge him his rest time in the cool air-conditioning one bit. I knew if he came along, he was liable to gripe.

Those giraffes certainly aren't as plentiful as they are on the savannah at akl. I loved your pictures all the same. I'm glad you guys headed back in to ride the safari. That is usually how I find the lion. This trip - nothing - the lion was completely gone!

No lion??? I wonder where he was!

Wow - Big crowds there.

I guess that is what Africa looks like right after the parade.

Was the heat as bad as last June? Just wondering because that was still the most brutal heat of all times IMHO.

It was worse -- I really think so. It was so hot in the middle of the day, I thought I would pass out.

Forget Boardwalk--your heart belongs to AKL and its giraffes!

Great updates. Is Connor as wonderful as he seems: easy going, happy, grateful, etc? My little ones will be 9 in Feb. but they are not as enjoyable to be around right now...their attitudes (especially one right now) seem to match the adorable picture of Chelsea (which by btw is not bad at all.)

Forget Boardwalk--your heart belongs to AKL and its giraffes!

Without a doubt my favorite resort is AKL, but I do like the looks of Boardwalk (and several other resorts). :goodvibes

Connor is a great child, but he has his moments. You will see one later in the trip report. As he gets older, I see the attitude a bit more. The other night he wanted to cuddle on the couch instead of going to bed (that is one of his favorite procrastination techniques -- he has been doing it since he was a toddler). I told him to go to bed, and he stormed off declaring, "I don't want you to tuck me in!" Alrighty then. Chelsea, of course, had to pipe up and say, "Even when I am really mad at you, Mom, I still want you to tuck me in!" My two are experts at the good kid/bad kid routine -- when one is misbehaving, the other is as good as gold.

Love the update. What a fiesty rhino!!

He was a fiesty rhino! I would not want to meet him without the safari truck between us.

Close encounters of the rhino kind, eh? :lmao:

What a lovely two week safari you had! And who can resist taking lots of pictures of the baby elephant? I'm a sucker for that, too! :goodvibes

Good Morning !!Just following along !!!

Hi, Rosie!!! Keep following! :goodvibes

Yes, that rhino was very close. I kept telling Connor to keep his hands in the vehicle. LOL!

The baby elephant was just too, too cute.
