Where Pixie-Dusted Birthday Dreams Come True! A July Trip Report! PTR Link! Pg. 116

Great update! Love how concerned your kids were for you:love:Oh what willpower you must have had not run out of there and head for Fast Passes:scared1:It's funny how sometimes we need to move out of our comfort zone and try something new, sometimes we even end up enjoying ourselves:rotfl2:

cA cliffhanger for sure. I really hope Chelsea did not lose her camera. I feel pretty certain you found it (cause she took some of the beginning pics - right?), but I hate that feeling for losing things.

So great that you are going with the flow. I am glad you like Sum of all Thrills. I look forward to riding it again.....all 3 versions!

YAY for a great morning so far at EPCOT!! Glad Charles got all into it and you guys were just going with the flow and having a great time as a family!!

HMMM...frozen cappucinio does sound really good right now!!!! I might have to go to McDonald's and get one LOL!!!! Not as good as Disney I'm sure LOL!!!

UHOH....missing camera...not good!!!!!

Very cool day so far...other than the lost camera. I'm with you on  Jim Cantore. I can take any bad news as long as he's the one delivering it!

Look at Charles in Charge!!!  I probably would have been in a panic going off plan too. But, you have inspired me to be more go with the flow (to a point! :lmao: :lmao: ). I was thinking our first Epcot day we'd spend in WS but I may ask *gasp* Clay and the girls if they want to cruise WS or hang out at Innoventions.

Hi,
Joining in. Great pics around the resort. Makes me want to change back again but I will not and will stick with POR. (Secretly I want to)

So far sounds like a fun time, glad you held it together with the changes made. :lmao:

I hope she is able to find the camera.

Well Charles is just full of surprises this trip. By the end of the trip is he converted to Disney-lover?:confused3

Just peeking in to wish you, Connor, and Chelsea a wonderful first day today!
I bet the kids will do a better job getting to sleep tonight. ;)

Uggg, about the people behind you in the bag check line! Mom & I had a guy like that sitting behind us in Hall of Presidents - he mouthed off during the entire part at the end with President Obama, it was really annoying.

I'm so impressed that you kept your cool when the whole Epcot plan went in the tank - I hope you get to Soarin' eventually!

Don & Justin did Sum of All Thrills in December and loved it too, Jared was nervous about it for some reason so he and I didn't ride. I do want to try it sometime though :thumbsup2

Oh no! I hope you find Chelsea's camera - I bet she was just sick!

I love how you just went with a complete change in plans, it sounds like a wonderful wonderful start to the day. Except of course for the bag check line and the missing camera....

I have a question I hope I can post here :flower3: I kew if anyone would know the answer it would be you guys my Dh loves the shooting range in Frontierland he could spend the whole day there :confused3 I was thinking I might suprize him with a card from Mickey they day we are going to MK saying have Fun at my Shooting Rang, Ok here is my question I know it is a quarter to play do you know if it takes Dollar Bills or just quarters. Dollar bills would be easier to put in the card but I dont want him to get there and not be able to play :lmao: Thanks Tina:wizard:

Oh no, a lost camera is never something you want to have happen! Hope it was found very quickly.

Go you for going with the flow like that! Sometimes (okay, a lot of the time) I end up being a trip nazi and insisting that we not deviate from "the plan". I'm going to try really hard to ignore that side of myself next trip. :thumbsup2

Subbing.... love the report so far.

A lost camera can surely be a disaster in WDW. Hope it was found!

:goodvibes

Charles hung up on Mickey???!!! :faint:

Your morning sounds wonderful so far (sans the lost camera ) Happy that you were able to adapt and try some new things. It's hard to break away from what we know and have always done :goodvibes Too funny about C and C stroking your arm thinking you were afraid in Innoventions :rotfl:
Oh and who doesn't have a crush on Jim Cantore? :rolleyes1

Tracy

Whew! All caught up! you all were busy chatting while I was away!
A few comments:
I was told by the Famous Teena the BC greeter that it was okay to park at BC and go through the entrance telling them that we were just coming to the resort or to eat there. So tell Connor not to feel bad.
The private entrance is still pretty private - there was hardly anyone there while we stayed at BC.
We took the inside long way out once too - ended up in the villas section and couldn't get out without back tracking!

At CBR - was there any resort specific merchandise in their gift shop? I noticed none at BC except pins. But AKL and Poly had some. What's up with that?
DH got a cool CBR t-shirt on our Jan 09 trip.
We got confused wandering around to our room then too.

What no pictures of the gaggle of Italian waiters for us???

Took the advice of you or another DISer and got a Grey Goose slushie in the plastic cup - AWESOME!!!

Can't believe 1) charles hung up on Mickey, 2) Charles took over the plan, and 3) you went with it!! Good for you!
Sum of all thrills looks cool - we didn't go there (partly b/c we don't do a lot with thrill rides).

Did your kids start school TODAY????? Wow! We have another month! Hope it went okay!

Oh my! Where is that camera?!? I am freaking out for you!

Caribbean Beach looks great! I rarely see pics of it in TRs.

I can not believe how grown up your kids look! It happens so fast.

Hi, Julie!!!! How is darling baby Claire doing?

Claire is doing great! We just returned from a vacation to Jackson Hole, Wyoming, including Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons. Claire was an expert traveler! So good on the airplane and good throughout the trip. It gives me high hopes for her first birthday trip to Disney!

The private entrance is still pretty private - there was hardly anyone there while we stayed at BC.

The only time I have ever encountered a line at the private entrance is when a boat is letting out.

Hope your first day was wonderful Jackie!!

I just wanted to pop in and say hi! I just read your TR today and am loving your sense of humor! My favorite part:

We decided to drive to the Beach Club and use the back entrance of Epcot. We simply told the guard we were going to eat at Beaches and Cream. Connor was so funny because it really bothered him that we had not told the truth. He said it made him feel dirty.

That is so hilarious, but so cute! :goodvibes And as Mdisneygirl says, Teena says it's ok.

I'm so glad you included pics of CBR. Although I used to go there as a kid/teenager, I haven't been back for 15 years. This December, I'm heading there with my family and I'm so excited :woohoo:. So thank you for including all that cool info, pics, etc.

Charles is really embracing his Disney love (other than hanging up on Mickey)! I think that's great!! Glad you were able to talk yourself out of the anxiety and toss the plan aside. Sounds like you had a fun morning. :)

The kids and I teased him so much about hanging up on Mickey! LOL!

Isn't it great that you know you'll be back and don't have to wait in 60+ min lines? I love that Charles added to the plan and I understand exactly how you felt worrying about "the plan". Glad you could let it go and have a good time.

I could probably count on one hand the number of times Charles has expressed any opinion on what we do at Disney -- I was trying hard to encourage him to love Disney on this trip.

I can copy your plan because I think that's the order we did Innovations! hehe. I enjoyed Stormstruck and Sum of All Thrills was a hit with my family!

Both were really neat and different!

Glad that the camera is safe, but sorry that there were tears in Disney! Looking forward to the story.

Tears at Disney always seem so much more tragic than tears in the real world.

Let me tell you, walking into the park BAG FREE is a beautiful thing. It's amazing really. :cloud9: I hope to do it again...someday!

Maybe I should make it one of my trip goals. LOL!

I love that The Plan got chucked out the window! Sometimes those are the BEST times, and it sounds like everyone is having a fantastic time. And Charles getting excited over Disney...that is awesome! I want to try both of those exhibits in Innoventions - sounds like you made a great move with doing Sum of All Thrills early, a 60 minute wait in Innoventions is unheard of!!

You must try Sum of All Thrills -- you and Joe would both love it!

I do hope you get to soar....

More on that story coming soon...

Great update Jackie!

First, nothing I love better than those early morning shots around the resort, there is something about the feel first thing in the morning that I love:lovestruc

Second, I'm with you on the whole super cell, tornadic, dread:scared1: We had an F5 tornado touch down about 25 minutes from where we live 3 years ago...scared the beegeebees out of us....the sky was that gross green color and I just knew that it was gonna be a bad evening:rolleyes1 Jim Cantore:love:we have grown quite found of him on our summer trips...he does great updates on the hurricances or TS's when we're there:rolleyes1

Third, praying that camera is found:eek:I had the stomach meets the throat feeling when I read that:confused3

Yes, early morning at the resort is one of my favorite times of day -- the other being twilight in the parks!

Jim Cantore makes everything all better!

We usually have very bad weather in the spring -- it always sets my nerves on edge!

The camera story is quite the tale, let me tell you!

I'm surprised on your early morning Caribbean walk there was no drunken Jack Sparrow meandering around... ;)

Possibly too early for him?

Charles? A park nazi? I can't believe it. :lmao:

I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't been there myself to witness it. LOL!

Now we know the real reason why you stopped at the storm area. Two words.

Jim. Cantore.

It's okay, we all know you're obsessed. ;)

My secret is out! :lmao:

Sounds like you're having a fun day despite the political ramblings you had to endure while waiting in line. :lmao:

Chelsea and I just shook our heads.

Haunted Mansion playing cards? I. MUST. FIND. NEXT. TRIP!

I found mine for $4.95 back in the toy section of Mousegears. They are super cute.

Beautiful early morning shots around the resort!

Thank you!

;)

I'm exactly the opposite. I'm so concerned that other people will hear my conversation, that I talk too SOFTLY and my own family can't hear me! :rotfl2:

Same here and then they are always asking me to repeat myself.

You get the wife/mom of the year award!!! :worship:

I really wanted everyone to have a good time on this trip.

Great update!!!!! I'll definitely be adding the innoventions rides to my list!! That frozen cappuccino sounds sooooo good right now! I'll definitely be buying the haunted mansion playing cards next trip! I hate people who think that they can say whatever they want while standing right behind you....at least talk softer......I'm hoping Chelsea found her camera! I'm thinking she did, but I hate that panic feeling when you realize somethings missing!

Thanks! Those frozen cappuccinos were sampled in almost every park we went to on this trip -- in fact, I think we did get them in every single park. We really liked them.

It was such a gut-wrenching feeling to discover the camera was missing!

I usually skip Innoventions, but after reading your latest update, I'm definitely going to have to add a stop there to our itinerary in October! I think DF would really enjoy Sum of All Thrills.

Sum of All Thrills was really so much fun -- a highlight of our Epcot day for sure!

another great update! I agree totally...

I would have been in plan panic mode as well ;) Glad you went w/ the flow and got a few really cool things done....I have not been in Innoventions since maybe the early 90's :confused3 it always seems to be on our "if time" list...hope we may be able to remedy that w/ this trip...

You should make some time to go and play in Innoventions -- it has changed so much over the years.

and OH NO! on the camera...

both of the twins got free refurbed old digital cameras from their Uncle and Aunt for their b-days and for summer camps...Nathan has not used his much, but Bekah has...I was quite proud she didn't lose it or break it while she was gone for 2 weeks...but I am nervous about giving her the added repsonsiblity of having it at Disney in Nov....

we'll see how your story ends and if I am more nervous

Well, I think sometimes it is very hard keeping up with everything at Disney. It's very easy to accidentally set something down and forget all about it.

Hey Jackie! Sorry I'm here late...just got back from my own trip! :goodvibes Loving your TR so far........I sure hope Chelsea finds her camera!

Hi! Oh, I see your trip report link in your signature! I will have to head over there tonight!

Oh no!! :scared1: I hope Chelsea's camera turned up!!

I'm definitely adding a stop at Innoventions to our to-do list for the next family trip! ::yes::

More on the camera in the next update.

Yes, you must add it to your list! The boys (and you) would enjoy playing in there.

Aww, poor Chelsea. I know the feeling of a lost camera in Disney. It stinks.

Storm Struck is cool. I wish I could do simulators because I would try the Sum of Fears.

Really pretty pictures of the CBR.

It is such a horrible feeling!

Ah, that's a shame that you can't do simulators. :(

Thanks! I love the resorts in the early morning when the sun is just coming up!

Charles certainly had his own plan. He really loves Disney, doesn't he? Sounds like a great start to an Epcot day. I'm definitely putting Storm Struck and Sum of all Thrills on my must-try list.

I was trying very hard to let Charles have free rein on this trip so he could discover how much fun Disney can be!

Did you check 2011 package prices today? I'm wondering if there will be a new ticker and ptr in the near future ;)

Not yet. I went to put dates in for our Christmas trip, but apparently Disney hasn't loaded the rooms in for December. It "claims" there are no resorts available, and we all know that can't possibly be true!

Beautiful CBR pics!! I feel so bad for Chelsea! I hope that she finds her camera :scared1:

Thanks! Much more to the camera story!

I'm really excited that you guys just sat back and went with the flow that morning! That honestly turned out to be part of what made our last trip the best one yet...just relaxing and doing what came to us at that given time :thumbsup2 Never done it before and it just works out beautifully!

It really does!

Next time I will have to try the Sum of All Thrills! We were in the Innoventions building and saw it but never got in line because, like you said, the wait time was pretty long around noon time!

I really think it needs to be done first thing in the morning while everyone else is rushing to Soarin'.

I'm glad to hear that you were able to loosen up on the plan without having a complete breakdown. ;)

It was touch and go there for a minute or two.

Hope Chelsea's camera turns up. I'm the queen of losing things on my trips to Disney. In 08 it was my favorite Lulu Guiness sunglasses. Luckily I realized it nearly immediately after I dropped them, and they were still in the bathroom. In December it was my new Betsy Johnson sunglasses. Sadly they never turned up.

Ah, that stinks about the Betsy Johnson sunglasses. :( That's why I always buy cheap ones.

Great update! Love how concerned your kids were for you:love:Oh what willpower you must have had not run out of there and head for Fast Passes:scared1:It's funny how sometimes we need to move out of our comfort zone and try something new, sometimes we even end up enjoying ourselves:rotfl2:

Well said! In the end, I was very glad we deviated from our usual plans!

cA cliffhanger for sure. I really hope Chelsea did not lose her camera. I feel pretty certain you found it (cause she took some of the beginning pics - right?), but I hate that feeling for losing things.

This was particularly devastating since Chelsea had only had the camera for about 36 hours.

So great that you are going with the flow. I am glad you like Sum of all Thrills. I look forward to riding it again.....all 3 versions!

I remembered how much you liked it and said I would be fine on it back in May, so I wanted to try it! I can't wait to try out the jet!

YAY for a great morning so far at EPCOT!! Glad Charles got all into it and you guys were just going with the flow and having a great time as a family!!

I was very pleased that Charles was having a good time.

HMMM...frozen cappucinio does sound really good right now!!!! I might have to go to McDonald's and get one LOL!!!! Not as good as Disney I'm sure LOL!!!

All I have to say is that it is a good thing school has started because I have had way too many frozen coffee drinks from Disney, McDonald's and Starbucks this summer! :lmao:

UHOH....missing camera...not good!!!!!

Not good at all!

Very cool day so far...other than the lost camera. I'm with you on  Jim Cantore. I can take any bad news as long as he's the one delivering it!

That man could read the back of the cereal box, and I would be riveted to the tv! LOL!

If you can let Clay lead the way a little bit, maybe it would loosen him up about Disney. I know it helped with Charles. :goodvibes

Hi,
Joining in. Great pics around the resort. Makes me want to change back again but I will not and will stick with POR. (Secretly I want to)

Hi, Scott!!! I am so excited you are here! I love all the moderates for one reason or another! Which is a good thing since they are the ones that are really in our price range. LOL!

So far sounds like a fun time, glad you held it together with the changes made. :lmao:

It made me twitch for a minute or two to change the plan. ;)

I hope she is able to find the camera.

I will say that there are many reasons why we love Disney as much as we do!

Well Charles is just full of surprises this trip. By the end of the trip is he converted to Disney-lover?:confused3

Wait and see...:rolleyes1

Just peeking in to wish you, Connor, and Chelsea a wonderful first day today!
I bet the kids will do a better job getting to sleep tonight. ;)

Hi, MeMom! We did have a good day, but I am really wiped out! I forget how tiring teaching all day can be! I think I am more tired than I am after an entire day at a theme park.

I have no doubt my two will sleep like little logs tonight. They better, anyway! LOL!

Uggg, about the people behind you in the bag check line! Mom & I had a guy like that sitting behind us in Hall of Presidents - he mouthed off during the entire part at the end with President Obama, it was really annoying.

Oh, that would have driven me nuts! At least I wasn't trying to listen to something else in the bag check line.

I'm so impressed that you kept your cool when the whole Epcot plan went in the tank - I hope you get to Soarin' eventually!

Well, I kept reminding myself that we had done all those other things before, and we would be back again, so once I got over my initial control issues, it was easy to have fun!

Don & Justin did Sum of All Thrills in December and loved it too, Jared was nervous about it for some reason so he and I didn't ride. I do want to try it sometime though :thumbsup2

Jared would have liked it, I think. Connor and I kept our roller coaster pretty tame.

Oh no! I hope you find Chelsea's camera - I bet she was just sick!

We all were including her brother!

I love how you just went with a complete change in plans, it sounds like a wonderful wonderful start to the day. Except of course for the bag check line and the missing camera....

The missing camera was a pretty big wrench in the day, but we were having a blast beforehand.

Hi! Unfortunately, despite always thinking it would be fun to take Connor over to the shooting arcade, we have never made it there, so I don't know the answer to your question. I am sorry! Have you tried posting it over on the Theme Parks board? Someone there might know.

Oh no, a lost camera is never something you want to have happen! Hope it was found very quickly.

The search for the lost camera adds something to the trip, that's for sure!

Go you for going with the flow like that! Sometimes (okay, a lot of the time) I end up being a trip nazi and insisting that we not deviate from "the plan". I'm going to try really hard to ignore that side of myself next trip. :thumbsup2

We have been seven times since June, 2007, so it was pretty easy on this trip to just kind of go with the flow.

Subbing.... love the report so far.

A lost camera can surely be a disaster in WDW. Hope it was found!

:goodvibes

Welcome!!! Glad to have you along! It was a disaster! I think we were all just sick to our stomachs over it!

Charles hung up on Mickey???!!! :faint:

I was shocked, I tell you! :lmao:

Your morning sounds wonderful so far (sans the lost camera ) Happy that you were able to adapt and try some new things. It's hard to break away from what we know and have always done :goodvibes Too funny about C and C stroking your arm thinking you were afraid in Innoventions :rotfl:
Oh and who doesn't have a crush on Jim Cantore? :rolleyes1

Tracy

We had a lot of fun trying the new stuff and not rushing around.

Jim Cantore...:cloud9:
