I would rent points and stay in a studio at a deluxe for a change !! The points make it about the same as a moderate..

The rack rate at POR will be $284+$15 over Christmas (12/20-12/27) or $337 with taxes. This year Disney offered a 20% discount off Moderates through 12/23 (so, 3 days out of 7 ... big whoop) and "free dining" if you started your reservation by 12/22 (so that's a discount of 4x$57 or $228!). BUT ... I would not bet the farm that they would offer it again.

So, you should probably compare either rack rate ($2363 for 7 nights) or maybe 20% off ($1890 for 7 nights) with renting points. If you rent points at $13 per point it will run you $1430 for an OKW studio, about $1800 for BCV & VWL, $1660 for SSR and $1980 for BLT. If you are considering a MK or Epcot resort you will want to find someone who owns at that resort and book it in the 11-month window (RIGHT AWAY in January).

I agree that renting points and staying at a dvc studio would be a good option. Animal Kingdom Villas studios are a great option if you have any interest in seeing the animals. The pool is really nice at Kidani (where we stayed). The value studios are really cheap, but probably hard to get, unless you rent from an AKV owner.

something else to consider:
if booking thru DRC/CRO, you would pay the extra adult fee for your eldest daughter, for each night
if you rent DVC points, you do not pay an extra adult fee (guest count still matters, just not ages of each)

I don't know if you found it yourself, but look here to rent DVC points: http://www.disboards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=29. Read "How to Use This Board" at the top first. I have rented points from both sides of the transaction and it's really easy. The biggest downsides are that (1) transactions are often non-refundable ad (2) 100% payment is often due when the reservation is made.

If you don't rent points, my very fav that I've stayed at (other than Grand Floridian) is Port Orleans French quarter. Beautiful at night with gas lamp, awesome pool, not as much waking as other resorts, boat to dtd & awesome beignets.
