Where NOT To Eat???

Just commenting on the ones I've been to:

1. California Grill - It's ok. The food was ok, service was ok, we were sat in the lounge area and didn't feel like we were there for a proper meal. The view is good, but I wouldn't return.
6. Chefs De France - Amazing! Been here a few times for dinner. Always good service and the food is to die for. Love it!!
7. Le Cellier - Overrated. Service was excellent but the food was just good, not amazing. I would not return.
8. Liberty Tree Tavern - Bad service. We actually got passed onto a different server after our original one had brought us drinks, and we had to wait forever for our food, which was just average. But I would be willing to try it again.
9. Yak & Yeti - Amazing!! Gorgeous food, great atmosphere and service! Cant wait to go back!! Yum!!
10. Mama Melrose - Didn't like my entree, but LOVED the caesar salad app, delicious. Best one I've had. I also had a great server. I liked the atmosphere and I would go back.

Share entrees! Most TS will have no problem with sharing, and there's plenty of food for two esp if you plan to get dessert after. My wife and I do that a lot to save cost and wasted food. We never get DDP since they don't give breaks to DVC like they do other guests, and out of pocket cost for DDP is too much money for too much food.

Yachtsman and Le Celier are both similar steakhouses, at least from the menus. Pick one and drop the other IMHO. (I've been to LC and enjoyed it, and we're going to Yachtsman for the first time in two weeks.)

California Grill is excellent food, a bit loud, great views esp for Wishes. Cost is higher than most of your other choices, so you might consider dropping it as 2 choices.

Liberty Tree Tavern is one of my favorites for lunch. Split the pot roast, plenty for two. Good comfort food, and inexpensive when split.

Yak and Yeti was so-so for lunch. Good enough, but nothing special.

I know it is considered rude to answer a question with a question, but with that list of fairly nice restaurants and the fact that you enjoy your food and love dessert, potentially puts in you a prime position for coming out ahead on the DDP. Have you done the math and still figure it's not worth it? I do get that you would like appetizers and realize that this could negate the potential savings - just curious though. :goodvibes

I would remove these 4:
Chefs de France - not as good as it should be
Yak & Yeti - ok . . . but not bad for Animal Kingdom
Mama Melrose - ok . . . but not bad for Hollywood Studios
Citricos

Want to add Victoria & Albert's instead?

Five of us in our family, we have been to Narcoosees 2 time, really, totally unimpressed with this place. Food is average, service average and it takes forever( I am one who loves slow dinners, but this was crazy). The view is great, but that is about it.

Yak & Yeti- One of my top 3 meals at WDW so far. Love the apps and desserts.
Chefs de France- Big disappointment for dinner. Food was BLAND but service was impeccable.

We’re going in October (hopefully) for 20 days, but not staying on property. Paying OOP! ...
Have a list of fourteen TS’, but must remove at least four, if not six. Would like to have your views on any or all.

We are tremendously food focused :goodvibes, like spicy food & love dessert. What would you remove?

WORTH KEEPING AS DINING OPTIONS:
1. California Grill
3. Citricos
5. Il Mulino
6. Chefs De France
9. Yak & Yeti
11. Garden View Tea
14. Mythos

Greedy… greedy… I now want to ADD Tutto Italia… my thoughts for today… but just for today… tomorrow may bring entirely new confusions...

1. California Grill – Skip… fiancée not big on sushi

2. Narcoosees – really going only for the Almond Crusted Cheesecake… really, really, really need to try that…

3. Citricos – keeping this one

4. Yatchsman Steakhouse – keeping this one as the ‘steak’ meal

5. Il Mulino – keeping this one… we love Italian food, amongst most other foods… ;)

6. Chefs De France – keeping this one

7. Le Cellier – Skip

8. Liberty Tree Tavern – keeping this one… ooeey, gooey toffee something… mmmm

9. Yak & Yeti – keeping this one

10. Mama Melrose – Skip

11. Garden View Tea – keeping this one, my ‘girly’ one, much to the chagrin of the fiancée

12. Boma Breakfast – have to go back

13. Kona Breakfast – keeping this one

14. Mythos – Doesn’t Count in the 10 restaurants list since its not in the same area.. :lmao:

See, four less already… Keep the views coming… we shall have a completely different list tomorrow... :goodvibes

Chefs de France. We have been three times and will not be going back next month. The food is so so but the service is terrible. Too much attitude for me. Would never go back.

The OP mentioned they are staying off property = no ddp.

1. California Grill – Skip… fiancée not big on sushi

2. Narcoosees – really going only for the Almond Crusted Cheesecake… really, really, really need to try that… (Maybe go for just drinks and dessert?)

3. Citricos – keeping this one

4. Yatchsman Steakhouse – keeping this one as the ‘steak’ meal

5. Il Mulino – keeping this one… we love Italian food, amongst most other foods… ;)

6. Chefs De France – keeping this one

7. Le Cellier – Skip

8. Liberty Tree Tavern – keeping this one… ooeey, gooey toffee something… mmmm Make sure you go for lunch, oooey Goooey toffee is not available at dinner

9. Yak & Yeti – keeping this one

10. Mama Melrose – Skip That means you'll miss their incredible steak gorgonzola! One of the best steaks I've had on property. I know, I'm not helping ;):)

11. Garden View Tea – keeping this one, my ‘girly’ one, much to the chagrin of the fiancée

12. Boma Breakfast – have to go back

13. Kona Breakfast – keeping this one

14. Mythos – Doesn’t Count in the 10 restaurants list since its not in the same area.. :lmao:

Skip Mamma Melrose and Liberty Tree. They are not even in the same ballpark as far as food quality goes with your other choices. Eat at Kona for lunch or dinner instead of breakfast.

Just my opinion :)

I'd remove:
Le Cellier - Been twice and think it is over-hyped.
Mama Melrose - Nice atmosphere, limited menu, and food so-so.
Yak & Yeti
Garden Grill Tea - loved the atmosphere and strawberries. Tea sandwiches were dry. Nice, but if I had to cut some....this one wasn't worth the $ IMO.

I would totally skip le cellier. We only enjoyed the bread and the wine and beer we had. Rest of the meal was not only over salted but over priced.
Would suggest San angel inn as an option in epcot, if you get a table by the water its very romantic and we have had a couple of wonderful meals there.

1. California Grill: Very noisy. Good Sushi, but other than that I thought it was just good. Excellent view though. I guess my expectations were greater.

2. Narcoossees: I love how there are some that don't like this place; it makes it easier for me to get an ADR. Narcoossees is a must for my family. The surf and turf is an excellent value if you are using 2ts. And the view is excellent.

3. Citricos: I personally feel the menu is a bit to eccentric for my taste. Food was good, but after I left, I had the need to get something to eat at a cs; small portions.

4. Yachtsman Steakhouse: I love this place. Excellent steaks, great service, and when you want that get away from the noise place, this is it.

5. Il Mulino: I've never been there.

6. Chefs De France: The food was good; I went in not expecting much and actually enjoyed the food and service. My only complaint is the tables are packed so close together.

7. Le Cellier: In my opinion, one of the most if not the most overrated restaurant in WDW. I found it to be about on par with an Outback Steakhouse. This don't make the place bad, I just was expecting more. With it's extreme popularity, even with ADR's you will more than likely have a nice wait. I think what makes it so popular is that if you are on the DDP, it is a very good value.

8. Liberty Tree Tavern: I love this place, but then again, I'm a good old fashion meat and potatoes kind of guy and that is what the Liberty Tree Tavern is.

9. Yak & Yeti: Another place I was not expecting much from and love it,love it, love it.

10. Mama Melrose: Not many places can make the Olive Garden look great; this place does that. I don't like Mama's at all.

11. Garden View Tea: Never tried it. Now if there was a Garden View Beer, I'm in.

12. Boma Breakfast : I'm not a big breakfast eater, but the dinner buffet is very good.

13. Kona Breakfast: Same as above.

14. Mythos: ??? There is a Mythos in Universal and it's pretty good.

Good luck with your selections. You will find opinions about restaurants are like our backsides; everyone has one, and they are all different. :)

OP, I see you are coming all the way from India. How long are you planning to stay? Would it make sense to buy an annual pass? At least one between the two of you? With an AP you get free parking (which is $14 per day) plus you are eligible to purchase the Tables in Wonderland discount card for and extra $75. That card will get you 20% off of all your table service meals, including drinks.

Here's some more info:
http://allears.net/din/dde.htm

Buying on AP may be worth it to you in the parking and TiW discount alone. If you think you might be back within a year two APs are really the way to go.

I can only help you with a few...

6. Chefs De France - been once, it was good, have an ADR for our trip in April
7. Le Cellier - been once, dh loved it and I felt it was overrated (but I grew up in cattle country and have really high expectations when I hear a steak place is 'great'....)
8. Liberty Tree Tavern - been 3 times, one we all like, dd included, consistently good in our experience
12. Boma Breakfast - been once, won't go back...really nothing special worth returning for

We’re going in October (hopefully) for 20 days, but not staying on property. Paying OOP! :scared1: For all those that pay OOP, how many TS’ do you tend to reserve… one everyday… one every other day… or third day? Seems to be adding up to a lot of money!!!

Oh...and just a comment about the tables being close together at Les Chefs...it's a replica of a French brasserie and they did a great job - the colors, tile floors - a nice mix of fancy and plain. It is a 'cozy' dining experience, but they do give you more room than you would get if you were eating in a brasserie in France.

And for those of you who don't like sitting so close don't ever go to Tony Bourdain's Les Halles in NYC...you'll be practically sitting on the lap of the person at the next table!
