Has anyone purchased the Where Magic Lives DVDs for the different parks? Are they good? I'm looking for something to show my kids pre-trip about the different rides etc. Oh, and for me to watch to get my WDW fix too ;) Thanks in advance!

We have the dvd that has all 4 parks. I assume the individual dvds go into more depth. If you are just wanting it to get the kids excited about the rides, I would go with this one. Save some money. Anyway, it's my 5 year old DDs dvd and she loves it. The only beef I have with it is that, except for Animal Kingdom, the footage is distractingly OLD. I think some of the teenagers shown on space mountain probably have grandchildren now. ;) It really is a good dvd, though and my daughter loves to shout out everytime she sees a ride she's been on.

Hope you have a great trip!!!!

I have where magic lives, which is good, and the individual park ones. The MK, AK ones are good, but I was very disappointed in the Epcot one, it just doesn't show all the best that Epcot has to offer. I have the MGM one coming.

where can you buy these?

I bought the Epcot one on-site for $19.99.
The other one's I bought from www.laughingplace.com because I didn't have trips coming up at that time, but it is much for expensive to do so. Approx $33 each.

$33, yikes. I'd want to buy the MK, EP, and DS, that would be a hundred bucks. Yikes!

Are they much better than the vacation guide DVD's you get for free from Disney? Do they show the rides in more detail? I'd like to maybe buy these for my son's b-day to get him excited for all the rides and to let him see what all the rides are.

$33?!??????????? :earseek:

DO NOT BUY the Where Magic Lives for $33!!!!!!!! I got it off ebay for $15 and it just plain BAD!!!!!!!! I'm sorry I paid $15 for it! The footage is really old and really cheesy and it doesn't even show that much of the parks. I was very disappointed :sad2:

Get the Disney planning DVD. It's free and while maybe not great, it is way better than Where Magic Lives.

I really wish Disney would come out with some really good park video/DVD's, I don't understand why the ones they have are so bad. You would think Disney would be able to make some really good ones! I got the Christmas at Disney World VHS and it's collecting dust too. The kids didn't even sit through it one time.

You can also get them directly from WDW itself. They have a mail order department email them at

wdw.mail.order@disneyworld.com

or you can also call 407-363-6200 Give a description of the item you are looking for and they will be able to tell you if they can send it or not, some of the more collectible park exclusive things they wont send (autograph books you can get though!) I don't think you can get PalMickey from them for some reason. Shipping seems a bit pricey, but may still work out cheaper than laughingplace.

As for the DVD's. You get a good idea of the rides, but it's not like a video of the entire ride from start to finish. I think, personally, that the MK one was the best. There is a feature on that where you can actually ride the train all the way round the park, which my DS4 loves! It's hosted by Disney characters like Mickey and Goofy. The Epcot one showed the countries very well, but didn't do as good a job on the rides, it was hosted by an actor (in character) rather than a character..if that makes sense. The AK one is again not as good as the MK one, but you get a pretty good idea of the park. It gives you a pretty good show of Kilimanjaro Safari, there is a feature where you can go on that too without the voice over. The guy presenting this was way too hyper for me, he seemed to be channelling Will Ferrell for some reason! I am happy I got them (I bought one of them from laughingplace, and I think it was worth it!)

I think the one they are refering to is the Where Magic Lives one that is all four parks, and they are right it's not that great. The newer individual ones do use a lot more new footage, though there is a little bit of old stuff thrown in. They are a big improvement.

Yup, I'm the big dummy that paid $33, and I honestly think that the free planning dvd's are much better.
Don't be crazy like me.

Thanks for all the input! :earsgirl: My sister has a WDW trip coming up, so I may ask her to get the MK one while she is there!
