Where is your polling place?

Ours was at the shelter at the park down the street.

There are some polling places in rural MN that are in people's homes. The principal at our kids' old school goes to one of those. There are only a few registered voters in that precinct, 20 or so, and the woman that hosts the polling place makes dinner for everyone. Sounds like a fun way to spend the election night.

Our community club house, I stopped on my way to work yesterday.

I think I'd feel weird voting in someone's house...

When we lived in NJ we voted in the firehouse.

Your polling place is outside? In MN? I do like the friendly idea of having dinner at a neighbors house to vote, though. :teeth:

Mine's at an elementary school around the corner from my house.

:rotfl2: No, it is an enclosed and heated shelter that is mainly used in the winter for a warming house for the ice rinks. :rotfl2:

Ducklite--these families are all people that have farmed in the area for generations, a lot of them are related to each other too.

Oh, and it was 63° yesterday so it could have been outside.

Church lobby. The church is across the street from my subdivision.

Fire station.

My parents polling place is at a retirement home.

In the fellowship hall of a church.

That building is 35 yards from my back door! Anyone else live closer to their polling place?

Well, THAT makes more sense. Most of the shelters I've seen at parks are really just a roof--no walls and definitely no heat! I know that Minnesotans are a hardy lot but that seemed to be taking it a bit too far! :rotfl2:

Elem. school. Most of them are in schools here in WA state. The very small districts are usually done as absentee ballots.

Sounds like the person whose polling place is in the basement of their building wins for the closest. Mine is at an adult community center not too far from my house. I went on my lunch break (since I go home for lunch sometimes)

Mine is at a Baptist church. During the presidential elections, church members were handing out keychains, pencils, bookmarks with church information on it to everyone who had just voted.

For some reason that struck me as a little weird and a tad inappropriate, though it didn't really bother me too much.

We vote at a church. Polling places here are churches, schools, firehouses and senior centers.

My parents used to vote in a neighbor's detached garage.

Well, I'm not sure exactly how close the clubhouse is, but I can pick up their wireless internet signal from my back porch sometimes...

Maybe 200 yards as the crow flies?

Mine's at a nearby retirement home.

I saw a picture yesterday though of a guy who was voting in Chicago at a laundrymat!! :rotfl2: Big dryers right behind him in the picture! :rotfl:
