Where is/will Flamingo Crossings be located?

My sleuthing says it will be to the northwest of AK, where Western Way meets SR429.

I got curious about it and drove through there one day,it was bizarre, the streets are new and nicely landscaped but there was nothing there.I do believe I've heard projects are coming soon.

That sounds like a really good thing. People keep saying it's getting too expensive. This could really help with the budget.

Yes. I think they will be marketing to all the sports teams heading to WWOS for their base to start.

The master plan calls for 7 hotels and I think plan is two more open by time Avatarland is done. I believe I also read there are plans for retail and restaurants. This is just minutes from AK if you travel out the road right next to Coronado Springs (where CSR buses turn to enter the resort).

So will these hotels have a similar relationship with Disney as the Swan & Dolphin?

This is outside of Disney property lines so very doubtful, especially given Downtown Disney hotels (on property) other than Hilton do not.

It's actually Disney property along Western Way west of SR 429. 3,000 acres or more. They've been quietly buying up land over there and leasing parcels to outside operators. Two Marriott hotels are soon set to open. What the overall concept of this area is meant to be is largely unknown to visitors.

I read that as all speculation on Screamscape part as to recent land grabs and creative thinking around the wetland purchase to create a 5th park. They have way too much to do in existing parks to even consider a 5th gate.

They are actually selling property not leasing it and even if something turns out to be on "Disney" property I'd expect the same as the DTD hotels minus the Hilton in terms of perks.

Did a quick look at the Property Records for the area and at fast glance it is very interesting. It appears "Disney" did purchase much of the property back in the 70's and 80's (no land grabbing) mostly using Reedy Creek Improvement District. Many of the parcels still held by Reedy Creek are for things like antennas, water treatment, electric substation.

Then around 2008 land began to be sold to Disney who turned around and sold it to Flamingo Crossing LLC which is a subsidiary of Disney. Flamingo Crossing LLC then began to sell the land to other companies.

JI-FX Hotel Real Estate Developer bought 12 acres which is the two hotels currently being built. In 2011 they sold land to Walgreens. In 2013 they sold land to Hess Corp who in turn sold the land to Hess Retail Stores. There are plenty of parcels left so if this is a pattern they will be selling to future developers. Even sold they all will be within the Reedy Creek Improvement District so would need "Disney's" approval for eveything.

This is great info. Thanks. And interesting how Disney protects their overall investment even at the periphery thru Reedy Creek.
