Where Is Tikiman?!?!?

ok - can anyone confirm or deny the site we are not allowed to talk about by one very big Poly Fan =- tikiman has been deactivated? I heard some rumors back in february that it had been taken down, then someone allegedly the tikiman himself posted that he was having trouble with traffic...and it should be up shortly.

Does anyone know when that poly inspired site will be up again?!?!?!

It goes down towards the end of the month due to exceeding maximum bandwidth and comes back up around the 4th of the next month. So next weekend it should be back in business.

That is true. I have tried a million times over the past months, and one night, I got lucky and got in..There isnt anything there that you cant get here..

I disagree with that sentiment. His site has a wealth of information and comparisons that aren't available here on the DIS. If it were, his site wouldn't be hitting the bandwidth limit as much as it does every month.

He's working on that BTW.

Free is the key statement here. Who would you propose pay for his fees on the site you would like?

I think the point just is (as far as I know), despite the minimal advertising on his site, it's still sort of a labor of love site, that takes a lot of time to maintain. If someone knows differently, please speak up. Given that, I don't think a business manager is needed.

But I think why people get touchy is because some people (not directed at the OP or ANYONE in particular) get mad when it's not available.

It's just great that there is such a comprehensive resource out there at all. And yes, if you want, when it comes back up, you can donate to his site through Paypal. That's what I have done, but I assume 99.9% of people that visit don't do that, so I'm happy with the fact that it even exists for 1/2 the month!

If anyone knows of a way to contact him, I would be interested in helping out. I own an IT consulting company that hosts for some of my clients. I also have partnerships for high bandwidth sites.

I am not looking to make any money or sell services here. If this post violates any rules, I will gladly edit or remove it. His site is very informative and helped me greatly after not staying at the Polynesian in many years.

Couldn't agree more MsStinkerBelle- TM's site is the most comprehensive site dedicated to Disney's Polynesian Resort there is. Actually it's the most comprehensive fan site for any Disney resort, hands down. The amount of research and effort put into his site is amazing, especially considering he pays for it himself. One way for those of us to help him with the cost of increasing bandwith is to donate to his efforts. I truly think Disney would have a hard time matching his site, even if they were to make an effort. If there is something you want to know about the Poly, it's there!

I agree, when I'm looking for a poly fix, or info, I go to his site as opposed to the poly thread. It's actually really relaxing! The colours of the site, sometimes there's hawaiian music, and its very organized!

A little Tiki bird told me that the problem is being worked on for a long-term solution so the bandwidth problems go away, maybe in a few months. In the meantime, you can always donate. Also, I had forgotten that Tikiman has an e-mail newsletter you can sign up for as well. No, I don't have the address - you would have to find it on the site when it comes back up.

I would have to disagree. Steves site is amazing, he stays there all the time, knows the CMs personally, and knows the history of the Poly like no one else I know.
