I know I have seen a map with an explanation of a short cut from GCH to DTD that you can go out but can't go back in. Now I can't find it, and we leave Monday! Staying at PPH for the first time (have stayed at GCH before and never knew about this short cut), so I'm trying to find the shortest way to the parks. I know about the GCH entrance to DCA, and not do to that 1st thing in the morning, but I'm specifically trying to find this rather unknown route that you can only go out into DTD, not come back in. We've always used the entrance to DTD by Sephora instead. Can someone please direct me to the thread . . . I've been searching the forum but am coming up with nothing! Thanks!:thumbsup2

What I've heard, is to use the stairs down when staying in the 400 wing of GCH. The stairs exit right out into DTD.

What Geemo said, about the stairwell in the wing closest to the bag check area. I'm just not sure that going along a guest room corridor is going to be any different than going along the walkway on the lobby floor of the Grand.

So you go out the FRONT door of PPH (or if you've been at PCH Grill for breakfast, go out the doors you see when you come out of the restaurant and look left), turn to the left and get to the crosswalk. Cross over to the Grand. Go in the front door of the Grand.

And then turn left once you get in the main doors and follow the sign to DTD. If you have to go to that next wing (well first I'm not sure you can...or how you would) it seems you would still be walking along the same direction of the path.

I think I'm saying "don't worry about it". :) If some day you are at the Grand again and are put into that wing, take it on your way to bag check. :)

Staying at PPH, there's no shortcut compared to just going through the grand to DTD the normal way. Going up a floor or two just to come back down a fire exit isn't exactly saving anything.

The GCH east wing shortcut through the stairwell only makes sense if you are staying at the GCH in the east wing. I have a couple times and it is a great shortcut. If you are staying elsewhere at the GCH or somewhere else like the PPH it is not a time saver.

I agree with prior posts, the exit stairs are only useful to GCH guests on the east side of the hotel.

For completeness, the stairs are located between x448 and x450 (floors 3, 4, 5).
A video walking down the stairs :goodvibes
