Where is the best place to sit for the Pixar Play Parade

I have had great luck coming in almost last minute right on the corner of the Greetings From California store heading towards the Backlot. Got plenty wet there, though!

We were there last weekend (Thanksgiving) and were planning to try and grab a bench near ITTBAB about 1/2 hour early on Saturday.

Well on Friday, we had just come off TSMM and were heading for pizza at about 5:30 and there were all these CM's trying to direct us through (like right as you're coming from the Orange Stinger thing on the way to Pizza Oom Mow Mow) and so we just pulled over to the side and had a front row seat! Very cool. I did not see any water - maybe we were too far at the end of they didn't do it since it is now dark and cold during the parade.

Kim :)

We sat over by the backlot entrance by the disney playhouse. We lined up about an hour before. Check with a CM about where to sit on the ground as there is a line in the street that is the "front". Most people think it is the rope around the sidewalk area so they line up there first. My kids did not mind the hour wait... there were people to watch, we had a snack and rested our feets;)

We opted to grab a piece of concrete to the right of the "reserved" seating to the left of the backlot entrance. There was a big chuck of space with nobody standing there, could have been because there was a CM standing there directing. I asked him if we could sit there and he said sure, as if he was surprised nobody else has already. It was plenty large and I think others were trying to avoid that spot as it initially looked unattainable since he was sort of "guarding" that area. My large chunk got alot smaller though (it was just me and ds) when a family decided to join us, and then call all of their other friends and families to tell them what a great spot they got....and they came....with strollers....yes that was plural. Oh well.

I was a little annoyed however, when a couple young teenager girls ran up to the CM (also a younger guy) and were all giggly and with flirtatious behavior. Whatever they were asking him, they made it blatantly obvious that it was secret, to which his response, after making sure no one of importance was around, was sure...go ahead behind the ropes and sit in reserved seating.

It was sooooo obvious what was going on. I wish I would have called him on it. :headache:

Water? I don't want to get wet watching a parade. Especially if I have my camera out.

How can I avoid water?

The only way to avoid water is to stay back as far as possible. And even there you may get hit. Those "cannons" have a huge range.

I was in the front with my SLR and ended up throwing myself over the camera for cover more then once.

Actually I have a very interesting photo of Emilie from Ratatouille. I was wondering why the photo was looking as if it was raining and it was the only one looking so weird. You really see the water droplets. Then I realizted I had taken a photo the very same second he had fired his water cannon at me. :rotfl:

We sat right at the curve across the walkway where you go over to the tortilla factory. It was wide open and we only sat for about 10 minutes before it came by. We did get wet but I had a sweat jacket in my lap to cover the camera. :thumbsup2 Also I read somewhere they will blow bubbles instead of squirting water if it is too cold but I'm not 100%. Make sure you watch for the flames on top of the baby's head from Incredables!

The best place to avoid water is right over by the sun/hubcap fountain right across from Playhouse Disney. That's right by the parade start point, so I think the water cannons aren't really firing yet as the parade comes out there.

I don't think they use the water cannons much in the cooler weather as I saw it last week and there was no water during the parade. The only bubbles I saw were during the Nemo portion of the parade.

Yes, no water during the cooler weather.

We saw the parade twice and the second time it had got cloudy and the temperature had dropped from the blazing heat two days prior. I still considered it very warm, but apparently it was only warm enough for bubbles during Nemo. ;)

I'd say not right next top a speaker. :) We ended up watching the Pixar Parade 1 full time and 2 partials and it was easy to just walk up and get a decent seat on the cement. Each time though my hubby came away with a headache because of how loud it was. He thought the Pixar parade was much louder than the one in Disneyland.
