Where is the best place to buy imitation diamond rings?

I have a friend who is interested in shopping online for an imitation wedding set. She bought a really pretty set at Belk but the setting is turning. What can you say for $8. She does not have a lot of money to spend, but has it in her head that she wants this. (Her husband is on disability and all their money goes to bills.) She wants something very fashionable that is not gawdy, but set in something that will not turn.

Does anyone have any suggestions about where to shop online and get a good deal for a good quality imitation?

She is coming to my house next weekend to shop online, so any help is appreciated.

Qvc has some very nice ones. All different price ranges.

I don't know of a good source for buying cubic zirconia stones, but I think your friend is very wise. :)

CZ ranges in quality with some costing more than low quality diamonds. I have tremendous respect for your friend for wanting to buy something within her budget. Diamonds are not a good investment. You'll most likely never be able to sell a diamond for more than the retail value, and in many instances, it will be worth much less than what was paid.

My wedding set is diamond, but if I had it to do all over again, I would ask dh to get me a nice CZ set. Of course, my wedding set has tremendous value to me and I would never try to sell it so the actual value of it today has no relevancy because it is priceless to me. It would have the same priceless value if it were CZ. :)

Target stores have nice ones too, when I used to merchandise in their jewelry department I'd always look at them...they are really pretty (and I think they are mostly sterling silver).

I just looked at thier website and the Judith Ripka collection of sterling silver is absolutely gorgeous. I would wear any of those pieces and I do not wear or own any costume jewelry.

I got a cubic from QVC when I was pregnant (my rings didn't fit!!). I think it cost around $125. The only thing I didn't like was that it was yellow gold and the prongs were yellow gold also - my real diamond is yellow gold but has white gold prongs.

If she is looking for real inexpensive, I'm not sure how the Avon jewelry is. Or how about that free sterling that you only pay $5.95 for shipping. I think it's silverjewelryclub.com.

We live in an affluent area. Many of the women here make a judgement call about you based on the size of your diamond. Personally, I've never seen the sense in owning a diamond (for ethical and financial reasons).

This Christmas, DH bought me a moissanite ring. Unless you are a jeweler with a loop, you can't tell that it isn't a diamond. Mine is set in 14k gold... so a beautiful stone in a gold setting. I love it! And the women around me all assume it's a diamond.

Moissanite rings still aren't cheap (mine was $650 for a 1.25 c), but the company that DH got mine from does very nice work: http://www.bellajewelryco.com/engagement.htm.

I have some Diamonique (spelling?) from QVC that looks very nice. They use 14kt gold with some of it as well.

I have a Diamonique from QVC and I love it. My real wedding ring has a bent prong and the jeweler advised me to stop wearing it immediately because I could lose the main diamond at any time. At the time we didn't have much money (3 small kids & I was in college) so I bought a $35 Diamonique ring from qvc.com. It is very nice and no one ever had a clue it was not a real diamond. I received many compliments on that ring.

I've been divorced a few years so I no longer wear it.

Thank you for that site!! My fiancee bought my ring and I love it but he's not happy with it, he says it doesn't look as good on my finger as he though it would.

I told him that I was completely happy with it but he just won't let up. This site is sooooo perfect so he won't spend all his savings on another ring he thinks I would like. I think Moissanite is the most unbelievable thing, it looks exactly like the real thing.

Another site that does settings in gold & platinum (not cheap!) is freecz.com.

Avon rings are nice for the price. The ones that are not silver do not tarnish, and I once had a customer tell me you could clean them in the dishwasher! :scared1: Anything that is silver (from anywhere) will need to be cleaned with a silver polishing cloth periodically.

You're welcome! My husband was very happy with their customer service (got a $25 refund when my ring was 2 days late... still got here in time for Christmas). And my ring is beautiful... just like the pictures on their site.

I don't have a diamond either...but an emerald in a custom made setting. Much much cheaper than a diamond and exactly what I wanted. Plus, it is the stone of everlasting love :)

Thanks for all the suggestions. :) I do not wear rings so I don't buy them and wouldn't know where to start. We will look at all the websites next weekend.

My best friends bought their wedding rings used on eBay. They are both GORGEOUS. Hers is a 24 diamond engagement ring with a marquis center stone with Baguette stones surrounding it, set in 14k gold, with a matching band. She paid $200 on eBay and it appraised for over $3000 after she bought it. I was skeptical when she told me what she was planning, but she got a great deal on a beautiful ring. Her husband's ring is gorgeous too, 10k gold with several diamonds, and they paid $250 for it on eBay.

Yet another vote for QVC here! I've owned one of their Diamonique rings for over 15 years and it still looks as clear and pretty as the day I bought it. QVC is also exceptionally good about warranties and returns.

Another vote for QVC. You can buy their Diamonique rings set in platinum over sterling silver (called the Epiphany collection) starting as low as $35. I have one that I wore at Christmas and everyone thought it was real. They also offer easy-pay on some selections so your friend could pay in installments (at no extra charge) to help out her budget.

QVC!!! I wish I had known about QVC before I had got married. I would have diamonique instead of the real thing.
