Where is the best place to buy AP passes?

I've finally convinced DH that we should take the plunge and buy APs, (there are 6 of us, so we'll have to buy 1 a month till our trip, and then budget for the renewals) but I don't know where I should buy them. The Disney site looked the cheapest until tax was added. Are they all the same price?

Another way to get an AP discount is the following:

Go to Mousesavers.com and subscribe to their monthly newsletter.

In that newsletter there will be a special link to discounts on MYW tickets at several ticket brokers.

Purchase through that link the largest MYW ticket that costs less than an Annual Pass on their website.

(If you are getting regular APs, purchase a 10-day nonexpiring MYW pass)

(If you are getting premium APs, purchase a 10-day with Water Park & Fun nonexpiring MYW pass)

The above tickets provide the largest discount over gate price.

Now, when you arrive at WDW, go to any ticket window at a park and tell them you want to upgrade those tickets to APs or Premium APs).

Disney will give you as value for those tickets their current gate price (regardless of what you paid) and you will only pay a small amount to upgrade.

This is NOT a loophole or tricky backend way to get a discount. I have talked to several CMs at ticket windows and it is simply the way their computer system is currently set up. (DISCLAIMER: It is possible that they could change the computer system at any time, but the way the MYW pricing is set up, it is unlikely for the foreseeable future.)

This only works with unused tickets.

When we upgraded our tickets 2 years ago, we had to pay the difference. Thus, no savings.

I didn't think there were any discounts on APs.

They can be purchased by phone, over the internet (on the Disney site), from some Disney stores, at the major parks, and at DTD.

As you stated, 2 years ago. I did this in December 06 (my AP) and May 07 (hubby's AP) with no trouble at all. Approximately $40 savings per AP.

There are discounts on the AP if you are a DVC member, in the military, a FL resident, or a Disney cast member. I don't think there are AAA discounts for non-FL residents on the AP.

clkelley's suggestion sounds good - but I'm a bit leery! I don't need another AP until January 2008, and since there have been no ticket price increases since August 2006, I expect there will be one in the next 6 months. I think I'd rather buy an AP voucher at full price and hang onto it until I need it.

A perfectly no-worries method that I used was to buy our APs on our Disney Visa credit card just days before the billing cycle closed, just prior to our trip. I think I had to allow 15 days to make sure Disney mailed our vouchers to us on time. Then I used the Disney dollars that I'd generated on the purchase towards our trip. Oh, and we bought our DDE card once I'd made the purchase also.
