Where is the barber shop in MK?

I wanted to take the boys to the barber shop this time. Where is the barber shop located? Is it first come, first served? And also, if you don't get a haircut, how long does it take just to have their hair fixed with the gel/confetti?

The Barber Shop was in full swing...If you enter the Magic Kingdom by going through the entrance way which is on the left side of the Train Station, continue walking past Town Hall (Guest Relations) and Fire House which will be on your left and continue walking straight ahead. The Barber Shop is just to the left of the Emporium which is the first Store at the head of Main Street on the left side.

The services offered are much like any Barber Shop, plus the little touches for the Kids. It was first come, first served, and it took us about 40 minutes to complete the service and sale. We had to wait for about two or three other children to get their hair done first.

We had our little guy get his first haircut their last year, and he got his first "Ears" that commemorated the occasion, what a nice touch!!

My DS also got his first haircut while we were there. He had never had his hair cut by anyone (even though he was turning 4, don't laugh!!!) and I was nervous. We had talked about it a lot and he was convinced Mickey Mouse was going to cut his hair!!!

He did fine and had a great time. He got a certificate and Mickey Ears that say First Haircut on them...so cute!!! It was first come, first serve when we were there as well, but there was only one person in front of us getting gel and confetti, so it was a short wait. It took about 20 minutes to cut his hair I think. It was a lot of fun and they were so nice. They even did confetti in DD6's hair for free! And gave out lots of stickers of course!

MY DD2 & DH just had their hair cut there in May. I found that it took longer for an older girl to get the confetti in her hair than it did to have an infant/toddler hair cut. My DH's cut took about 20 mins. The barber was very thorough & did a great job.
If you are looking to wait & see more toddlers than older kids, I would wait that day.

The gel/confetti is $7.50, but it's free with a haircut. A haircut is only $14, so all three of my kids got their hair cut when we were there in May (unfortunately it was pouring so they couldn't get the colored gel).

Last year my two little ones had their first haircuts there. It was one of the highlights of our trip.

It takes less than 5 minutes for the gel/confetti (even on my girls who have very long hair-- they just pull it into a ponytail)


We didn't wait too long either time (maybe 20-30mins). We went in the morning, but not right at park opening.

Our DS got his 1st and 2nd hair cuts here! I had wanted to go at opening both times, but we just didn't get in fast enough and didn't want to wait. For his first haircut - not to give away secrets- we went just before parade, and had no wait. Michal cut Joel's hair both times, and he did a great job. We got his ears, tons of stickers, and Joel's baby hair wrapped up with a certificate. His 2nd haircut was on Mother's Day, we got in right before the shop closed; no one was waiting so I wasn't sure if they were still open, but they were!

Thanks so much. My MIL and SIL are both hairdressers and so both our sons first haircuts were by their grandmother. I am definitely going to take them both in for the gel/confetti and if either wants a haircut, we'll do that too.

It sounds like a wonderful *first haircut* experience for any child though!
