Where is it safe in the USA?

Northwest.

When volcanoes and earthquakes are the primary danger, I would say you're in real good shape.

BORING Ohio is safe. I live west of Cleveland by the lake. No hurricanes, earthquakes, or volcanos......we only get two or three bad snow storms a year and only have a handful of days in the summer over 90 degrees. Lots of icky weather, not much unsafe weather.

Chicago... :cool1:

Right on! I wish I was back in Chicago.

No earthquakes, hurricanes, tsunamis. Tornados are rare (in the city at least) and snowstorms aren't very bad. It CAN get hot in the summer, but that's what air conditioning is for.

Actually CT, RI, and MA have been listed as the places where you'd least likely to perish due to a natural disaster.

Interesting! For me though, even if I was worried about dying of a natural disaster, I wouldn't dream of living in the northeast. One year in Providence was enough! I couldn't wait to get out of there. The northeast just wasn't my cup of tea...:confused3

The Northwest. I'm in Idaho and there are no tornadoes, hail storms, hurricanes, earthquakes, big snowstorms are in the mountains (where the ski resorts want it), there is nothing here, the weather is very steady. Winters are rather mild. I've lived in Iowa, Nebraska and Minnesota and let me tell you winters here are MILD! LOL!

Maybe it wasn't just the change of seasons that encouraged the American Indian to migrate each year! :confused3

Right here in Buffalo, NY!

No hurricanes, no earthquakes, no tornados, no mudslides, no wildfires, no extreme drought, no typhoons.

And anyone that says we get a zillion feet of snow and live in subzero temps all winter has never lived here. If we get one big storm every few years that's alot. It's very manageable in winter. :)

:rotfl: Sorry I had to laugh at this. The ONLY time I drag my snowsuit (pants actually) is when I'm heading outside to play with the kids. It's not a daily thing at all! And as far as the locks...only in extreme icy weather would the locks be frozen over, and 9 time out of 10 I park outside all winter. The extreme cold you talk of usually doesn't head out until possible Jan/Feb, no way in November and definately not in March.

I thought this was funny too. The only time we have EVER had to thaw out our locks was when DH wasn't paying attention to the weather and decided to get the car washed and it got pretty cold over night. He never runs the cars through the dryer so of course the locks froze. You just squirt the lock de-ice stuff that costs about 50 cents into the lock and you are fine. I NEVER wear a snow suit. It is basically the beginning of November and we still have flowers and green grass, no snow. Oh, and I was outside all day running errands.

I don't know anyone that gets home delivered food because it is too cold. You just get used to it. In the summer we have plenty of 90-100 degree days and very humid, too. When we were in Florida in June I didn't even notice the humidity because it was LESS humid then what we usually have in the summer.
