Secretaries of State usually don't get involved in campaigns. Dr. Rice, in fact, is breaking with tradition a bit by making speeches during a campaign as a National Security advisor. Probably there will be a number of changes to the cabinet in a second administration. There usually are I think.
I watched Frontline last night, it was the one called "Rumsfeld's War." It shows how marginalized Colin Powell has been in this administration. What a shame.
I'm sure you are only saying that because Mike Powell is a part of the Bush administration. Jeez, he was nominated to the FCC by Clinton. Don't hate someone just to hate the Bush administration.
it's not a big seceret that president bush has chosen to ignore secretary powell's advice on most matters. rumour has it he will step down if gwb is elected, but we'll have to wait and see on that. i've also heard rumours that condoleeza is fed up with washington life and wants to go back to academia, but again - who knows.

NO....Clinton appointed him to the commission to try to woo his daddy to the Democrat side...Bush appointed him as the head...someone who has NEVER had any kind of radio experience!
I don't have a problem with him being on the commission, but not the head and to try to say that his dad din't get him the job is insane!
Last i heard he was at a conference trying to get rid of the Nukes in North Korea. Silly me, i thought that meant he was doing his job, not going into hiding. I guess CNN's been lying to me again
As a republican I find it interesting that CP is not a part of the campaigning at all.....regardless of historical tradition of secretarys of state. I would think that he could be a powerful and eloquent speaker in the right situation with some of the major voter blocks.
It leads me to conclude that the relationship between GW and CP isn't one that would support his involvement.
After all, some folks get along together in the workplace and some don't--the presidency is another workplace.
The FCC includes a lot more than radio. It's about rules, and Michael Powell is a lawyer... Another shocker, the Secretary of Agriculture is not necessarily a farmer nor is the Secretary of Tranportation a bus driver.

I don't think the government should tell me what I can and can't bring into my home. The FCC is going crazy so that you can't hear or see things because "they" deem it offensive..So..it ok to show ****s on a medical channel, but not on ER when it is in the storyline...it is ok for Bono to say "F**k" ( he was repremanded, but not fined ) but CBS owned stations were fined for the Super Bowl incident ( which, come on..the local stations had nothing to do with that )
That's a completely seperate issue from why anyone in the government has the position they do. That has nothing to do with Michael Powell. We have had decency standards for a LONG time. I don't understand what this has to do with Colin Powell, either?
