Wow:eek:

Pretty amazing, isn't it? That sucker was huge! I'm listening to a call in show on the radio and they just received a hateful, SAD phone call from, ironically enough, a caller in FLORIDA. One who actually lost his home in Hurricane Wilma. He was just plain mean, "I don't feel a bit sorry for Texas and as far as I'm concerned it can fall off the face of the nation." He doesn't think Texas should receive ANY federal aid for cleanup...despite the fact that Texas is the 2nd largest contributor to the federal budget (behind California). Sad, sad, sad...but then...I changed to a Houston station still broadcasting information on Hurricane Harvey .... just called for more mandatory evacuations of more subdivisions in Addicks Dam area :headache:. A caller to the show was a Houston firefighter who has been on active duty since LAST Friday...an entire week. He finally got off duty. What's he doing? Loading his personal truck with water for his personal delivery to friends in Beaumont (they lost their water station late Wednesday). :lovestruc Restored my faith in human nature! :lovestruc :tink:

Hollywood and Vine? :tink:

I'm with Karolyn Hollywood and Vine the big mural on the back wall.

Team work for the win :cheer2:

It's about time Texas got some of that money back. How much did Louisiana get for Katrina??

I'm SO glad I went to Glacier NP last week!! The place is on fire this week. They lost one of those beautiful chalets  yesterday and have closed Lake McDonald Lodge and parts of Going to the Sun Road. Even where you can get into the park they say there are no views, you can't see the mountains. :sad2:

Believe me, Texan's do NOT like to ask for help; we'd prefer to "do it on our own" and have a 10 million dollar "emergency fund" but I even heard one cleanup estimate as high as a TRILLION DOLLARS. :headache: Most estimates are around 750 million but, in looking at the damage, I wouldn't be a bit surprised if the cost was as high as a trillion. As SIL said, "the TV doesn't show the extent of the damage". One of our local firefighters posted a picture and statement on the fire last night; breaks my heart as much as seeing the flood photos. SO sad one of those beautiful buildings was destroyed and extra glad that you weren't caught in it! :scared: I SO wanted to get through to that radio station and ask that guy who were some of the first out of state first responders to arrive EVERY time a hurricane hits Florida...TEXAS! Had a convoy from Missouri come through our area today.:goodvibes :tink:

After a long, stressful week that began exactly one week ago, we are thrilled to have a ROAD trip NORTH :car: , away from the floods, to watch our favorite volleyball players in action again! :cheer2: Later....

:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2: Picked up where they left off :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2: with another victory over a larger 5A school! Sure was good seeing everyone again and they were ready to play! Won in 3 games! :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2: We missed our "Friday Night Lights"...over 100 games in Texas cancelled due to the hurricane. Our game was postponed until tomorrow so we were going to go back and watch the Bryan High School game after dinner...just to "get our fix" of a Texas tradition. That changed when I got a phone call from a friend; she and another of my friends were preparing Saturday's lunch for the National Guard troops staging in Brenham and needed dessert for 60! :faint: Wasn't about to say "no" so we finished dinner and headed back to Bellville to do some baking. Finally took the last of the goodies out of the oven at 12:30 but more than glad to help out. :goodvibes

Brazos River still running high:

This is from an attraction in a park.

Do they have photo ops like this at DW? I can't think of any off the top of my head.

Cyndiella will post some occasionally but I think they're from the Food & Wine Festival. I believe she said they were in the American Adventure. Not sure if they are permanent of just available during the Festival. :tink:
