Where/how to propose?

I proposed to my wife in the rose garden back in 2000. It was through packages that Disney used to offer, not sure if they still do or not.

Great location as in may all the flowers should be blooming (I think) and you have a wonderful view of the castle (and fireworks if at night) yet it is not as crowded as being in front of the castle. Makes it a little more intimate. We had the rose garden completely closed for just the two of us but in all my trips I don't remember ever seeing it ever crowded. Gives you the "aloneness" (if that is a word ;) ) you may want but you're still part of the action.

Good luck

DH proposed to me in 2006 in Magic Kingdom. He took me out to dinner that night and then we watched wishes in the rose garden with the water behind us. I am obsessed with Tink so right after she flew over he got down on one knee and gave me a rose (which he picked from the garden behind his back while we were watching the beginning...I am sure he isn't supposed to but oh well lol) and pulled out the ring and proposed. Amazingly no one seemed to notice him even propose.

There is a small gazeebo like structure at the Grand Floridian (or near it) that is on a point of land overlooking the lake. Across the lake is the Magic Kingdom and the castle. If they go there in the evening while the Magic Kingdom fireworks show is underway they will see it in the distance..across the lake. During the day the gazeebo is used for wedding ceremonies but in the evening it would make a nice, private spot for a proposal.

Is that open to the public in the evening or do you have to reserve it somehow and/or be staying @ GF?

I like to think Disney got the CRT glass slipper package idea from me. I bought a glass slipper from Arabas Brothers in DTD and had it engraved ahead of time. I contacted the "zoo" (cm's who do characters) and made arrangements to get the slipper to Cinderella ahead of time. I had reservations to eat at what was then called King Stefan's Banquet Hall (now called CRT). While we were waiting, Cinderella came out and greeted all the little girls. My girlfriend didn't expect anything and was totally surprised when Cinderella produced a glass slipper and said, "My fairy godmother asked me to give this to you!" I got down on one knee produced the ring and asked her to marry me. We've lived happily ever after.

The nice thing was the waiting room was almost empty so it was semi-private. Also, it was something unique, not a package I bought. She loved the fact that I put so much effort into coming up with something unique and romantic, and that, I think, is the key. I was surprised how easy it was to get the cast members to help me. I figured the worst they could do was say no, and they didn't.

Depending where they are staying, I would recommend a late night carriage ride at POR. You can have wine or champagne. Looking at the grounds all light up and the moonlight and the clip clop of your horse. He can drap his arm around her. I am guessing the getting down on one knee would hard but it would be romantic.

Another idea would be to watch Wishes from the poly beach and propose there.

Propose on the way down at Splash mountain so she'll have only nanoseconds to respond!:lmao: :rotfl2:

I had some ideas for my DHB (Disney Honey Bunny)...top of the Contemporary on the deck after dinner at Cal. Grill (she didn't want to go out there...scared of heights..Doh). Out by the light house on the dock at the Beach club was another possiblilty...it started raining for us. It was a bench under the Tree of Life in AK, a path leads down to the water between Asia and Harambi, near where Devine usually hangs out. Out of the way and if you wait, only a few people coming down to check out the view. We now visit "our" bench whenever we go!

A nice walk along the Poly or GF beaches may be nice too. During the fireworks would be romantic. If the Castle and Rose Garden in MK is too busy there is a path going towards the GF out side the MK (it stops at the canal just beore the GF). To the right past the resort launches to GF and WL. It's out of the way and fairly private.

I got engaged at CRT. After dinner our waiter brought out a covered dish. Of course, the ring was in that dish in a glass slipper with rose petals surrounding the slipper. DH proposed. Then we each had a slipper dessert. CRT also gave us a bottle of cider and toasting glasses. It was really nice.

With the advent of the characters singing and dancing at CRT now, I'm not sure I would want to get engaged there. We went to CRT for dinner last year after the whole Fairy Godmother show was implemented. It is really loud. My DH and I agreed the new atmosphere just wasn't right for an engagement.

Good Luck to your brother.

When we were there on New Year's Eve, there was guy proposing in front of The Crystal Palace in one of the little nooks next to the little pond. It must've been the families there too because there was a huge group eagerly watching all w/ cameras ready. We walked by as he was down on one knee. It was really sweet because there was an awesome view of the castle as the backdrop and it was at night, so it was all lit up!

Congrats to your brother!

there is a boat ride a night i think its at Mk they take you out on the lake to watch the fireworks or have him do it on main street in front of the castle get a photo pass person to take there picture and just as there about to take the picture have him kneel and ask let the photo pass person know he wants to ask her to marry him and they will make them pose for the picture

If you make breakfast reservations at the Crystal Palace before the park opens you could do all of this infront of the Castle with almost no one there, you'll get good pictures without all the crowds and who ever is there with them (meaning the other family members) can take the pics, or you could flag down the Photo pass person to be there with you all. Either way, you won't have all the people in the way for the photo opp.
Blessings on the coming marriage! :bride:

It might be neat to propose while riding Soarin'

Yeah it would be neat, but also could be a little difficult; but not only if you wanted to go down a one knee. I wish I proposed to my DFi princess: at DW, we found out we were going a month after we got engaged.
