Where/how did you meet your spouse?

In a bar! :lmao::thumbsup2

We both had friends who knew people in the band playing that night. It's funny because we both were actually not going to go that night but we both were dragged there by friends. I was talking to one of his friends and the subject of scuba diving came up (he is a certified diver) and his friend called him over to tell me about a trip he had taken and that is how we were introduced. Funny thing is we both had broken up with significant others the year before and neither of us was really looking for a relationship. 11 months later we were married and we just celebrated our 13th wedding anniversary.

Sounds alot like our story except DH and I met at a steak house (I like to kid that he was the best piece of meat I got there!) We both were coming off of divorces and were not looking to meet anyone. I had just started law school and had my next three years pretty much planned out for me. My friends dragged me out from homework for a night out at a dance club but before that we decided to get a decent meal and that's how we ended up at the steak house. DH was there with a client he had in from Germany. My girlfriends and I went to have an after dinner drink at the restaurant bar and, needless to say, we never went dancing that night. At the end of the evening DH went to give me his business card so I could call him sometime. I told him that if he wanted to speak with me he would have to call me! I guess he liked my spunk b/c he called the next day. I still wasn't into starting any relationship but agreed to go out with him. On our 3rd date he told me he had a job interview in another state and I told him to go for it. He did and moved away. I figured that if it was meant to be we'd work through the distance. As I continued with school, we would talk on the phone and visit each other and the relationship grew. Towards the end of my 3 years of school, he decided to move back home...he proposed on my last day of law school and we married 5 months later. Next month we'll be celebrating 9 years of marriage! :lovestruc

I'm really the first IN A BAR - no mutual friends - I just hit on a cute guy.

I suggested thumb wrestling and the loser buys the winner dinner (sure thing either way) LOL

I won - and cheated  had dinner a few days later - at the door he said "I thought you were blonder" ( and I never let him forget it :rotfl:

Married for 14 years this November been together for 19 years :lovestruc

We're still in love

:sad2: At least my husband and I had the decency to meet in a pub!

My best friend introduced me to my husband. She used to date him as a freshman, he was a senior. I didn't meet him until I was 16. I moved out with him about six months after graduating. We've been together for 24 years and married for 18. His mom and I were talking after he and I dated for a while. I might have met him a few years prior. He used to work/volunteer at the Haunted Mill (halloween attraction in the town) and I had gone with my friends and remember we were flirting with a guy dressed as dracula (he was a guide). Seems that probably was him, his mom used to work/volunteer there also.

That best friend met her husband at work. She cuts hair, now owns her own salon. They've been married for about 10 years now.

My brother met his wife through mutual friends. He is a paramedic with the fire department. One of his co-workers had a cookout, his wife worked at the hospital with my brother's wife.

My favorite is my great-grandparents. My great grandmother's family owned a shop in Memphis. My great-grandfather would come and sit/visit with her while she minded the shop. They were childhood sweethearts. My grandparents were introduced by my grandmother's cousin. Both my grandfather and the cousin went to the same college.

I was drunk - it was my 25th birthday. My designated driver got a migraine and had to leave.

Alan stepped in said he would take me home. Had wild crazy loving cause he was SMOKIN hot. Anyway we just celebrated our 14 year anniversary.

We were introduced by a co-worker.

The funny part is, she called at work to get the phone # of another girl she actually wanted to introduce him to that evening. She was going tohave them both over to her house.

I happen to answer the phone and when she told me what she wanted, I said "Oh, so you have a single guy coming to your house and you didn't think of me, you thought of her?".

She laughed and said "You can come if you want to. I promised him a girl, I didn't promise him who".

So I went. And I met my DH. 22 years now, married 19.

He said he knew the minute we met. I thought he was nice, and funny and fun to be with, but it took me a few months to actually "know".

But I've never regretted it...

We met on Talk City. Anyone remember that? It was a bunch of chat rooms. We met in 1998.

Working at Dollywood.

DH worked with my aunt and I worked at another shop. I would go hang out at their shop when I would get off. DH was extremely shy, therefore, I asked him out. We had our 1st date a month after my 17th birthday and we've been together ever since. We celebrated our 17th wedding anniversary this past June (had our 1st date 19 years ago coming up on October 18th).

My father was not very happy when DH gave me my engagement ring during my senior year of high school. My birthday was in September and he didn't speak to me again until right before my wedding the following June. He thought we were too young and that it wouldn't last more than 3 months. I call him every year on my anniversary to remind him that it's lasted longer than 3 months. He jokingly says we're just staying together now for spite, to prove him wrong. I think he realizes now that I made a very good decision.

Of course, the rest of my extended family thought for sure I was pregnant since we were getting married so young. However, we didn't have our 1st child until 3 months after our 5th wedding anniversary.

While it worked out for us, I know it doesn't always. Now that I have 2 children of my own, I understand why my dad was so upset. If my kids even think about getting married at 18 I'll lock them in their closets.

We met on myspace, lol. 5 years ago, 4 years of marriage, and 2 kids later.. here we are. :cloud9:

High School 5th period. I was senior she was junior. That was 17 years ago and we've been married 13 years.

He IMd me on AOL. We were married 3 months later. We've been married 13 years and have 3 children together. He is truly my soulmate.

I met DH in the parking lot of Arby's on International Drive next to Wet & Wild. I had just gotten off of work at Disney World and met my friends on Intrnational Drive which was the "strip" in those days. This was in September 1987 when Orlando still had the Navy Base and he was just out of Bootcamp and he and his friends were dressed in the cute navy uniforms and of course being the shy girl I was , I yelled across the parking lot something about the Navy we started talking and then went to a party at a friends house. I gave him my number and he did not call me . So the next weekend when we were cruising down International Drive in bumper to bumper traffic he passes us going in the opposite direction so I jump out of my friend's car and go to his car and ask him why he had not called me and he said he lost my number :confused3 I still do not know if he was telling me the truth. He propsed to me January 1988 right before he was transfered to Ct for several months for Submarine school and I saw him for a couple of week after that and he was then Transferred to VA and 1 week after being on the submarine they went on a 6 month med run. He got home about 10 days before the wedding. We were married May 1989 at the age of 20. We have 2 daughter and celebrated our 21 wedding anniversary this year.

We met on a college exchange program to Moscow --- the program had participants from colleges all over the United States. I was there from University of California and he came from University of Maryland.

I had to go all the way to Russia to meet someone from the east coast. :cutie:

We've been married for 19 years.

Funny you should ask, TODAY is our 35th wedding anniversary. :)

DH and I met after his cousin threw a snowball at me and my friend when we were brushing snow off my Dad's car after we'd gone to see a movie. They drove by (DH was driving) and his cousin hollered at us and threw a snowball. I didn't think much about it, but my friend wanted to follow them so we did. Ended up parking in JC Penney's parking lot to talk to them. Well, DH's cousin and my friend did most of the talking. She told them we were going to be at the local roller skating rink on Sunday. Didn't really think we'd ever see them again, but lo and behold DH was there (with a different cousin this time) at the rink and we skated together, exchanged names, etc. He came to watch me bowl that evening with my Dad (we were on a league). He and his cousin wanted to take me out for pizza after, but my Mom said no which I understood. So I invited him over to my house for later in the week, so Mom could get to know him. We were married just over 6 months later.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :banana::banana::love::love:

She used to be the babysitter. Really.

Don't get discouraged! You'll find someone great!!

DH and I actually met when I was 11 and he was 13. His mom started teaching at the same school my mom taught at. His sister and I became instant friends and I spent a lot of time at their house. Of course, I couldn't help but notice her handsome older brother . We clicked, "dated" for a few months, and then he broke up with me because "his sister was upset I didn't spend time with her anymore". Terrible reason. :sad2::lmao:

When I was 15, we started talking again via Instant Messanger and the phone. Of course, we clicked again. He asked me to his senior prom and then we were official. We've had our fair share of long distance relationships, problems, etc. but we've been together ever since!

We met through Together dating service. Dated for 2 months, married a year later. Today is our 13 wedding anniversary!:bride:

It's a long story, but basically we met because we have matching MINI Coopers.

Cambridge, MA! A bar called JONATHAN SWIFT'S! He approached me and we started talking ... and we will celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary on October 25th!!! Oh and we went to WDW on our Honeymoon. Back then WDW was only ONE PARK. We could see them building Spaceship Earth off in the distance.

My DH and I met in college...at th library...on Valentine's Day.

Of course, I was actually dating someone else then, but then in the Fall, DH turned up in one of my classes. We started sitting together and 21 years later still together and quite happy.

My point is you never know who might be the one to introduce you to "the one".

Never give up...but at the same time - don't "settle".
