Where has your 2-year-old slept in a 1BR?

What sleeping arrangements have you guys used for newly out-of-crib 2-year-olds? Our DD is still in her crib, but I expect we will convert her crib into a toddler bed in late July/August when we move (she'll be 2 1/2). Then we're going to WDW (Kidani) in November. I suppose our options are:

1. Put her in the sleeper chair (maybe the arms will act as guard rails).
2. Put her on the sleeper sofa (maybe less likely to fall off bc more room to rollaround).
3. Rent a toddler bed and put it in the bedroom with us. (Would rather save the money and not do this, but it would be nice to be able to hang out in the living room/kitchen after she's gone to bed.)
4. Buy an inflatable toddler bed and put it in the bedroom with us. (Same as 3, but additional pro that we get to keep the inflatable, with additional con that we have to deal with it while traveling.)

We're planning in putting our three yr old on the pull out sofa, but sideways. So his head will be at one arm, his feet will be at the other, he'll have the back to one side, and the rest of the bed to the other side. We use rails with a regular bed in other hotels and a toddler bed at home.

I agree with this. We put our then 4 year old on the sleeper sofa in a studio with no issues. When she was 3 we did a regular bed with bed rails (the resorts have these for no cost , but not sure they'd work on a fold out). I'd agree with putting her sideways on the sofa and using pillows to help block the one side.

We bought the ready bed years ago for our kids. They loved them and weren't too hard to travel with.

We used a ready bed. Also, in a pinch, took the pad out of the playpen and used it on the floor.

Our son slept in the pack n play at Disney until he was nearly 4. He barely fit in the thing but he loved it! Put a sheet over the top and it became a tent.

We had a roll-up inflatable toddler/sleeping bag type bed for our oldest when it was under 4, but our autistic son wasn't nothing to do with it or anything else, so we take the couch cushions and put them on the floor between the 2 beds, cover them w/ blankets and he's happy. Not a lot of extra space so he doesn't roll off much if at all.

Last May I put my two year old in the pack and play that DVC has in the room. She slept soundly.

While staying at a one bedroom at SSR, we put our 2 year old in the Disney provided pack and play and then put it as far as it would go into the closet so she had her own "room". She likes her privacy.:

Our youngest son, who is on the smaller side, has slept on the loveseat. We turn it around and put the open end near the wall so it acts as a guard from falling out. Now that he is 8, he sleeps in the pull out chair without any issues. The arms of the chair come out pretty far. This has been at OKW.

We just stayed at the BCV, and he slept on the "dining room" bench that we placed cushions on.

I can't remember what we did at AKV, but what ever they had, it worked.

We have an older son who doesn't like to sleep with anyone....very active....so we have to keep them separated.

Hope that helps,

Cheryl

OK, so I am going to go a different route. What happened to sleeping on the floor?! I so would not buy a bed for a vacation. We have 8 year old boy/girl twins who do not like sleeping together (she doesn't like sleeping with him because he is a cuddler) so she has always opted to sleep on the floor over sharing a bed with him. Put a sheet down and pillows blankets on top, cheap easy and no hassle.

Actually, when we were at Boardwalk, the closet was so big, she claimed it and set up a whole room for herself in there. I think there is something to be said about letting kids do some basic things and have fun too!

We have brought an air mattress, just a regular twin mattress, and our 2 year old slept on that in the master bedroom. We wanted access to the living room because my son goes to bed at 7pm even on vacation. For regular hotel rooms we make our own rails out of pillows, by lining the sides of the bed with pillows under the fitted sheet so he is sleeping in a valley. I wouldn't put him sideways on a sleeper sofa, he could fall into the opening at the top and that would be terrible.

Sent from my phone using DISBoards Ap, please excuse any typos and autocorrect mistakes.

Our youngest has slept on the couch cushions from age 2 and does still now at 4. They are big cushions and we put a couple together on the floor and he is happy as can be (MUCH better than sleeping with his older brother!.)

Its Florida. There are bugs everywhere, and the floor is too hard. Have you seen the Bonnet Creek thread discussing cockroaches coming out at night?

Pulled out the couch and used a coffee table on one side and bed rail on the other.

When my 11 yo was small he used to love to sleep on the "sleeper chair"..

If bugs are going to invade your room, they're not to confine themselves to the floor. When we stayed at WL, we found ghost ants in every facet of the room. I felt perfectly safe having my son between the wall and a pedestal bed or between 2 pedestal beds on the couch cushions and blankets. We felt it was the safest place for him and the only place he as comfortable.

For regular hotel rooms we make our own rails out of pillows, by lining the sides of the bed with pillows under the fitted sheet so he is sleeping in a valley.

This is what we used to do. We would put my son in the pull out sofa and put pillows under the mattress on both sides so he would have to go uphill in order to fall out. Cheap and easy.

We bought a set of inflatable bed rails from onestepahead.com

they are easy to travel w/ and come with a small foot pump.

We put them under the sheets on the pull out.

We have a regalo cot (the new version) which is super comfy and folds small enough to fit in our duffle bag to fly.

I also saw a lady put foam pool noodles under the fitted sheet to make "bumpers". Also a great idea.
