Where else would you go in Florida?

Hi!

As a European citizen, I don not know much of Florida besides Miami, Vero Beach and Orlando.

I wish to spend a week in some nice place near the sea to bathe and relax before Disney. What would you recommand and why (we are a family of 4 with 2 kids 7 and 10)?

I am a history junkie, so I would recommend St. Augustine, the oldest city in the US. It has a beautiful historic district and I always say I'm going to go back, but never do. Of course, dependent on the time of year--if it is spring, I'd also say go to Port Charlotte and catch the Texas Rangers' spring training.

The beaches near there are not as nice as the gulf side, but a trip to the Kennedy Space Center is well worth it.
