Weekend trips: SanAntonio Riverwalk and Zoo, Camping trips to private campgrounds within 3 hours of home
Since we moved to TX, the only big non-Disney vacation was a trip back home NJ/NY/PA including Dorney Park and Hershey Park. In the works is a roadtrip to Busch Gardens Williamsburg, and eventually California (DL!).
When we lived up North:
A week at the Jersey Shore (Point Pleasant or Wildwood)
Lancaster, PA - camping, shopping and Amish landscape stuff
Upstate NY - Cherry-picking and Apple orchard trips
Delaware River near the Water Gap/Poconos - camping and canoeing, antiquing, (skiing in Winter)
Trip to Key West, FL - snorkeling, key lime pie, historical tours, pristine beaches, one of my most memorable vacations and I long to visit there again!
We lived near and I worked in NYC for some time, so a trip there wasn't really a vacation. But, Times Square, Central Park, 5th Avenue, SoHo, Broadway etc. - there's a lot to do that would make a great vacation for someone who's not from the area.
